Jeongguk still felt like his heart was beating too fast for his body, everything around him seemingly frozen.
He watched his best friend infront of him, his head dropped, wet blonde hair dangling to cover his face, arms shyly shoved in his pockets and his chest rising up and down.
The words replayed in his head over and over, almost as a try to understand them more and give them more clarity.
'I like you as more than a friend'.
It just seemed -- unreal to him in this moment that those words in that combination left Taehyung's lips in such an honest and raw tone. In such a meaningful shyness and carefullness. Like he really meant what he said.
Jeongguk gulped, not knowing what to say or how to react to something he had waited for -- for so so long. It all felt like a cold wave suddenly hit his body at a cliff, he wasn't expecting it to hit him and thought it would never even be able to -- but somehow it did and it came to him as a complete surprise, suddenly showered in the cold salty water.
"i-i shouldn't have- shouldn't have suddenly hit you with that- i'm sorry. I understand i-if you are upset." He heard Taehyung breathe out, slight regret and embarrassment laced through his words, Gguk feeling his heart shatter into sharp pieces like the glass of a broken mirror.
He saw his head rise up from looking at the floor, his hair now stuck to his forehead again, dark eyes sparkling in the slightest, watching him gulp, his adam's apple rising up and down.
"I-I didn't want things- to be weird between us- b-but i think i just did the opposite." Taehyung sighed, a tiny chuckle of embarrassment attaching to the end of his words. "But after -- fighting with Yongsoo, i-i just came to the realization."
The atmosphere awfully silent again after the confessions left Tae's lips. It's not that Jeongguk didn't want to respond, it's more that -- he couldn't, feeling tongue tied.
He just could not even form a proper sentence in his mind, all words and grammar puzzle pieces that don't fit together in his head, everything jostled around into a big untidy mess. He was just speechless still, at a loss for proper words, any words for that matter.
"W-well again- i'm- i'm sorry for suddenly overwhelming you this way. And i-it's totally fine if you- if you don't feel that way- I swear! I can handle that- a-and you are still my best friend in the whole wide world and everything." Tae laughed off the awkwardness in his words yet again, now eyes focused on his feet, balancing one of them around on it's heel.
