I spent a lot of time on myself, making sure everything was good for meeting the whole family together on this day. I haven’t really ever been to another family dinner, not even my ex’s family dinners. I’ve met Calvin’s parents, but we never got together like this, it was like he was always trying to hide them from me. Bruno actually wants me to meet everyone, it’s just going to be different especially a dinner that isn’t going to involve my boyfriends mother. Just thinking about it made my heart begin to race, I could feel goosebumps move slowly from the roots of my hair down my arms, following it with an electrifying shiver run through me. ‘Oh my goodness I’m not feeling good.’ I jumped and quickly turned around to the sound of knocking at our open dressing room door. Savannah leaning on the door frame holding her second glass of wine slowly shaking her head at me with a smirk on her face.

"You are not leaving this house looking like that." She sound sarcastic and it made my eyes widened looking down at myself and immediately got scared.

"Is this to much? Bruno is going to be here any minute!" She wrinkled her nose while still staring at me, "Savannah!" I said about to break a sweat.

Savannah began laughing as she walked up to me to calm my nerves with her special hugs, “You always look great Bebez. Its not to little, it’s not to much, it’s just right.” She looked down, “Hey the shoes mom bought went perfect with this dress!”

I smiled big when I acknowledged the heals Holly bought me for Christmas with her. I turned around to look at my outfit again, I wore a dark red half sleeve o-neck plait dress with a gold waist belt and to compliment my outfit was my gold cross necklace and gold earrings that dangled to look like wings.

"Are you ready?" Savannah asked staring at me in the mirror. I fixed any curls that were out of place and moved my bangs to my liking. I exhaled and nodded as I look one more look at myself to make sure nothing was out of place, "Good cause he just text, he’s going to be pulling up any minute now." Savannah said holding my cell.

My eyes widened again and turned to Savannah and held her by her shoulders to keep myself from falling, “Savannah I’m nervous. I don’t know if I can do this, especially because this is their first Christmas without their mom and I almost feel like I’m replacing her, somehow and—”

"No, no, no, no, no don’t think that way Marceline. Just calm down, breathe, look at me." I did exactly what she said, "You are not replacing anyone. You are going to have dinner with Bruno’s family, have fun with his family, and you’re going to leave happy and ready to party with me and some friends when you get back."

I paused, trying to gather what she had just said, “Friends?”

I rang the doorbell, for some reason I felt nervous about tonight. I brought my hand up to my mouth and took a few breaths to make sure I didn’t have bad breath. The door slowly opened and in seconds my heart pounded so hard, I could almost feel it jump out of my chest almost before my stomach jumped to my throat. I looked into Savannah’s eyes and moved my attention towards her neck moved as I watched her try and swallow, just as it was for me.

She looked into my eyes before averting them to the floor, “Hey Bruno. Marceline is almost ready. You can come in, if you like.”

It sound like she was a little irritated, but I didn’t want that to get to me, “Okay, thanks.”

I moved past her towards the stairs as I looked up and found her already on her way down. Marceline walked down watching me, watching her as she slowly made her way down, smiling at me that just warmed my heart.

"Hey beautiful." I said as she took her last step off the stairs.

"Hello handsome."
