6: Corrie to Dawn

Hey Dawn,

No, I told my mom the whole story. I'd already told her about the faeries a while back, though. I'd tried to keep them a secret, but it's impossible for me to hide things from my mom. I knew she'd freak out a lot more if she thought that I had dropped out of college than if she knew the truth, so I had to make sure she knew why I might not be going back in the fall!

She took it really well, honestly. The part that bothers her most is that I'm not looking for another school to go to in case CC closes. I don't think it's all that likely that it will really close—I have some faith in Professor Lal and the others. They set up that really impressive barrier, after all. Okay, it obviously wasn't good enough to keep Gerlina out, but now they've learned their lesson, right?

I know not everyone's mom is as chill as mine, though. I couldn't blame your parents if they're upset that you were on campus at the same time as a murderer. Did you tell your aunt, at least? I don't know if she would freak out, but she knows about the faeries.

I'm sure you know this, but you'd better tell them something soon. The summer seems to be slipping away quickly. There's not much more than a month before we'll hear the announcement, one way or the other. On the slim chance that the college does close, you don't want to have to tell your parents that you didn't tell them before, but now you have nowhere to go in the fall.

On a less depressing topic, have fun visiting Rico! I know the two of you are going to have a great time ;). It's nice of your aunt to be your chaperone... I bet she'll let you do whatever you want, right? I mean, what can she say? She dated Tom.

If you get some extra time while you're in the city, give me a call. I'd love to hang out if I'm free.

Speaking of being free, I've got to get dressed for work. It's amazing that I don't get sick of pizza after working with it all day—I think stale garlic fumes in my regular clothes would absolutely destroy my enjoyment.
