The one thing Nora despised most in the world was the sound of an empty house. Empty silences were the worst. In the past she probably would have strived for it but now she couldn't think of anything worse. To overcome this horrific peeve, she would make sure it was never silent.
Starting from having the television turned on all the time, she didn't care about what was playing. Next Nora took it upon herself to sing everywhere she went alone, maybe a little hum under the breath to belting out the lyrics to her favourite song at the time.
Today was like any other day. Nothing out of the ordinary. She would wake up at around 8:30am, have a quick shower before making her normal breakfast which consisted of two slices of toast. Then read a book for around an hour, obviously while humming to her favourite song, Sealed With A Kiss.
She was so immersed in her book that she didn't hear her fathers shouts from the second floor of her home. Her fingers delicately flipped the pages while her beautiful voice filled the silence she despised.
"Nora."
She flinched at the sudden noise and spun around to face her father who was standing behind the couch she was perched on. His eyebrows shot up as he realised he scared the poor girl.
"Sorry, didn't mean to frighten you. I've been calling for 5 minutes," he exclaimed while running his hand through his scruffy beard.
"Don't be dramatic father," Nora rolled her eyes as she closed the book and raised her eyebrows at him. "I was too busy to listen to your incoherent mumbles."
Rick scoffed at his daughter and pointed at the staircase, "you need to stop leaving your dirty clothes all over the floor. I nearly fell down the stairs because of this."
He held up a lacy black bra, which Nora didn't notice he had until now.
"Dad!" She snatched the piece of clothing out of his hand while looking at him incredulously.
"Please keep your hands off my undergarments and leave me in peace," she raised her eyebrows, almost challenging him to fight back.
Rick rolled his eyes dramatically and raised his hands in defeat, knowing he couldn't win verbally or physically with the mutant. Nora smiled mockingly and turned back round with a loud sigh.
Her father strolled into the kitchen to start lunch for both of them as it was nearly 12pm while Nora happily opened her book back up.
