"CECEY, ARE YOU PAYING ATTENTION?" MAX ASKED HER WAVING his straight hand up and down in front of her face to get her attention.

'"Yes." Celine stated sheepishly in a lie.

She was looking down at her Shakespeare Romeo and Juliet book, her eyes scanning the words sinking into her head, although she had already memorised the whole book years ago. She was re-reading it with the hopes of get a head start in her English assessment, getting it out of the way so she could go on with her hunting as fast as possible. After all it had been... what?. A week and two days since her last ghost, she was slacking and needed to get back into her daily schedule. Sometimes her mind flicked back to the weird dork boy she'd met in the ally way. 'Well didn't that sound casual.. The weird dork boy she met in the ally way. 'what would her father say?. He was powerful and he could read minds, well occasionally as he said. She couldn't grasp the idea of his powers out of her mind and not to forget what he was hiding from her. She would find that out soon enough.

 "Ceccy ..." Max repeated impatiently.

"Yes" She repeated for the thousand time like a broken record, stuck on the same phrase repeating it a blunt rhythm.

"So can I?" He asked leaning towards her cautiously, so she could feel the warmth on the back of her neck as he breathed. As he lent towards her, Celine could smell his familiar scent of lemon grass, and the cheap plastic smell of comic book pages.

 "Yes."

"Awesome! " Max exclaimed and she might have seen wrong but it seemed he pumped his fist in the air, before slowly lowering as if he was thinking about something else.

"Yes" She only saw Max out of the corner of her eyes as she read , but the intelligent and cheeky realisation on his face should haveregistered.   But the book enthralled her mind with its beautifully shaped words of ravishment , and she quickly disregarded it.  She hadn't been paying attention and Max was going to use it to his benefit and entertainment.

"So can I invite some school friends over? "He toned his voice with upmost innocence. He held his hands in front of him politely, in a clasp as if a young naive child.

 "Yes."

"And get fat and eat lots of Pizza?"

 "Yes"

"And eat the burger you're eating?"

"Ye-Wait No!... no, no you cannot have the burger I am eating! . That's my burger what do you think you're doing!." It was at this point that Max was laughing so hard that he was barely breathing and he continued to laugh so mush so until he literally fell to the ground on his back. His hands cupped his stomach that was racking with his laughter. His glasses fell off and he didn't even seem to care. At first Celine fixed him with a stare as hard as stone at his trickery, before laughing herself. Making sure the burger was secure first by putting it on the table, followed by her turning over to lay next to him on the ground, their heads touching with affection.

"Well that's how I can tell you love me" He told her staring up at their new houses roof. She did the same it was nothing interesting just a pail creamy white, blank.

"What do you mean?" She asked confused but not without affection.

"What I Mean..." Max added, his voice holding a change of tone which made her turn her face towards him.

"Is that you must love me a lot to lay down and laugh with me, rather than murder me savagely for almost tricking you into verbally giving me your burger." His black hair covered his eyes again and with his glasses off Celine could see a mark on the bridge of his nose from where his glasses normally sat. What do you know, he knows me' Celine thought to her amusement. Without even thinking she used her right hand to brush his ink like hair away from his eyes, a gesture so familiar that Max didn't even seem to notice. His black hair so much like her fathers that when she pushed it back she felt like she had a link to their Father just for a second she could pretend it was alright and he was still here. She shook the thought away as quickly as it came like swiping at her reflection in water until it became unrecognisable in the ripples. She was with Max, Max!. That's who she was with, and he deserved her attention. After all these years she needed to accept her Father was gone, an embrace the reality of you was still their, before it was too late and she lost him too, the only person she could and did ever love.
