My phone alarm went off, waking me and Sam up. What can I say, school is important kids. It was six in the morning, too early. I was about to pass out when Sam pulled me off of the bed."Come on you lazy bone! You need to practice for the tournament. We still have no idea what your power is!" Sam said tossing me out of the cabin.
"My power is being lazy now leave me alone," I said standing up to go back inside. Sam ran in front of me and shut the door.
"Either practice and get immense pain now or later. So which one?" Sam asked crossing his arms. I glanced from left to right, hoping no one was going to be around for this.
"Alright, but your powers are outta wack too. How is this gonna work?" I asked ready for an attack.
"I was able to use my powers by being in a situation where I had to use them. Maybe if we put you in a similar situation?" Sam suggested. I noticed his hands turning blue and kinda got scared.
"H-how are y-you gonna do that?" I asked as my legs began to tremble. Sam charged at me, punching me in the chest, sending me ten feet back.
"You know how!" Sam said running at me again. I thought I had peed my pants, but that was just Sam, splashing me into a lake.
"Are you feeling different?" Sam asked running towards the lake. I was doggy paddling away from him, scared out of my mind.
"Not really! I don't think this is working! Can we stop?!" I asked trying to doggy paddle out of the lake.
"I am gonna try one last thing!"
"Oh no!" I yelled trying to swim to the end of the lake. Sam plunged his hands into the water, and shocked everything in the lake, including me. For some reason, none of his attacks were causing pain. I mean, it hurt, but there wasn't much actual injury. Sam dived in and swam over to me.
"Anything?" Sam said examining my skin.
"Nope, nothing. That was fun though!" I lied. It was mainly tiring, but I did have some fun. We swam back to shore and awaited our fate. Our clothes had mostly dried up when Eve came out and blew into a weird horn. It was so loud I thought my eardrums were going to rupture. Sam walked out of the cabin and ran back in.
"That's a lot of people!" Sam said walking back towards me.
"Yeah. I think there are 10 fighters though," I said going over to the cabin door. "Let's go!"
"You are gonna die, John!" Sam said walking over to the door. He gave me a weird look and walked over to the area where the tournament was being held. The Director was there waiting for us. We were welcomed onto another stage, which gave me goosebumps. I felt sick to my stomach, my first time on stage didn't feel that great. As soon as we walked on the stage the whole camp cheered. I was puzzled, we haven't really done much if anything, we just added more kids to camp.
The Director called a few kids to build the stadium, which they did at extremely quick speeds. I was kinda internally freaking out, now that the arena had been built, we had no way to stall for time, making me freak out. I glanced at Sam who gave me a look that said, dude-there-is-no-way-you-are-surviving-this. I nodded in agreement, but then looked at Mr. D, wondering what he was thinking.
"Ladies and gentlemen, and anyone in between, we are gathered here today to basically watch a fight club!" Mr. D said pointing at Sam and me.
"Wait, what was that?" I said glaring at Mr. D.
"Onto other matters," Mr. D said with an embarrassed look. "We have to get the teams set up!"
