I opened my eyes to hearing the front door slam, along with two female voices from downstairs. I rubbed my eyes to wake up a little more, hearing footsteps approach my room. Luckily, I wasn't naked or anything in my bed, but then I felt the warm body and steady breathing of Gerard sleeping behind me. His arms were around me, and I jolted up, slipping off of my bed and falling to the floor with a thud when my door opened to reveal my mom in the doorway. She turned on the light, looking at me on the floor as she spoke to the female figure behind her.
"Lindsey do you know where," She looked over, seeing Gerard sit up in my bed, looking at my mom with his eyes wide. I stood up and couldn't form words to fix this situation. Gerard was wearing one of my bigger shirts, along with his boxers.
"Gerard! Get your ass over here!" The female behind my mom stepped forward, her face radiating anger. I looked at Gerard.
"I can explain," I said, knowing full well that I couldn't.
"We were looking for Gerard since I got off work, I thought you were better than this." My mother said, looking at me with disappointment in her gaze. Gerard moved off of my bed, fixing the Beatles shirt I gave him to try and get it to cover more of his boxers. The woman stepped into my room, looking at me.
"Who in the hell do you think you are, young lady?" She said, glaring at me as Gerard then pushed her away from me gently.
"Don't say that, Mom." He said, his mother then stepping away from me to look at her son. She glared at him.
"I called Ray's mother and she said you weren't there, I called Frank's mother and she said you weren't either. I can't believe you would make your baby brother lie to me so you could sleep with this skank." I felt my blood slowly begin to boil at her words, looking at my mother. She was looking at Gerard's mom with anger as well, crossing her arms.
"You can leave. You don't talk about my daughter like that." She said, her voice firm. His mom then looked at mine, giving her a dirty look before grabbing onto Gerard's arm and pulling him out of my room.
"You are to never see her again, do you fucking hear me?" She said as I watched Gerard get practically dragged down the stairs and out the door. Once the door shut, I looked at my mom. She stared at the door for a second then looked at me.
"Lindsey, I thought you knew better than to take home your fucking boytoy. Especially when his mother is a raging cunt." She said, her voice filled with disappointment. I sat on my bed, putting my head in my hands.
"I'm so sorry, I don't know what I was thinking." I replied, feeling my eyes begin to well with tears. Oh God, not now.
"I'm glad you realize your mistake, I don't want you doing this again without giving me a heads up. Its a school night, Linds." She then sat down beside me, putting her hand on my shoulder and speaking with a softer tone. I sniffled, wiping my eyes and looking at her.
"Did she really mean what she said? Never seeing me again?" I spoke, my voice weak. Mom then looked at me, her eyes softening. She then wrapped me in a hug, holding me close to her.
"You don't want me to say the truth right now, but I'm guessing yes. I know you might love him, but I think she doesn't want Gerard to hang out with people that don't tell her where her son is." She whispered. I then began to sob some more, the thought of not being able to see him again getting ingrained in my mind and stabbing my heart violently.
"He asked me to be his girlfriend today," I said, letting the words accidentally spill out. My mother heard my distress and hugged me tighter, trying to comfort me.
"Its okay, baby, its okay." Mom whispered, rocking me gently in her grasp. After some time, I felt myself calm down enough to break away from the hug, sniffling and wiping my eyes on my sleeves. Mom looked at me and rubbed my back.
"Did you eat dinner? I can cook up something." She said, softly. I looked at her and smiled a little.
"I could use some dinner," Mom smiled comfortingly and then stood up, gesturing for me to follow her downstairs into the kitchen. I sat down at the table in the center of the kitchen, wiping my eyes from any and all moisture from my tears. Mom pulled out a box of mac n cheese, along with chicken from the fridge. I watched her prepare everything to cook.
"So, whats his name? Gerard?" Mom said, striking up conversation. I smiled.
"Yeah." I confirmed. She nodded and let the water start to boil as she took out the chicken to cook.
"How did you two meet?" She asked.
"We've known each other since middle school, and chatted here and there. But I really got to know him when I did my audition for Mindless, and then after we had a jam session, kinda, with his band, My Chemical Romance. Then Jimmy took us to have some snacks that night and I got to know him better then. And we also have the same classroom for ISS." I replied, smiling at the memory. Mom nodded once again, getting out seasonings for the food and pouring the noodles into the water.
"Whats his band sound like?" She asked, turning to me. I got up and went upstairs, grabbing my phone and walking back to the table. I opened iTunes and played Headfirst for Halos. She nodded to the music and continued to cook. I looked at the time on my phone, it being 11 pm. I raised my eyebrows then looked at my mom.
"Did you know it was 11?" I asked. Mom nodded.
"They sound pretty cool, I like the lyrics." She commented, placing her bag on the table by the door. I nodded, then going onto their new album, buying it then playing the first track to listen all the way through.
"This is their new album, from a few days ago, called Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge." I said, Mom nodding and doing a little playful shimmy to the music. I looked at the song title, Helena. I also decided to shimmy along with Mom, the two of us full on dancing by the end of the song, as my mom finished up the food. I moved my phone to the side and got up, getting myself a plate and sat back down, Mom sitting across from me.
"I like the style," Mom commented, eating some of the food. I nodded and ate some of mine.
"I think Gerard told me that they have a photoshoot tomorrow because they sold more than 10k records." I said, smiling at the massive feat. Mom looked at me, her eyes wide and excited.
"Good for them! Are they going to record music videos?" She asked. I nodded, trying to remember the songs they were going to do.
"I think they're doing I'm Not Okay and Helena." I replied, then skipping through down the album to I'm Not Okay. Mom nodded and listened to the song while eating.
"This sounds emo." Mom commented, causing me to snicker in response. She wasn't wrong, and I knew that the band didn't want to take in the label so early in their career, and thats understandable. They don't want to suddenly blow up because they gave themselves that title, even though when their music videos come out, they're going to be forcefully added under the emo label.
