Lindsey knocked on Jimmy's door, and the two of us stood there for a few minutes while we heard footsteps approach the door. Jimmy opened it, looking at his watch then back up at the two of us.
"You're late for once," Jimmy looked at me, as I had my sunglasses on and I was smoking a cigarette, "I see why. Stub out your cigarette until we reach the basement. My mom will kill me." He said, letting Lindsey inside as I pushed the cherry off of my cigarette then followed in behind her. Jimmy walked over to his mother, and the two of them had a small conversation in Spanish, I assume. I recognized some words, not all though. Lindsey looked at me and gestured to her eyes. I furrowed my eyebrows then gave it a second before I took off my sunglasses and put them in my pocket. Jimmy then walked away from his mom and lead us downstairs into the basement.
Steve and Kitty were messing around with their instruments, Kitty propping her feet on top of her bass drum as Steve was trying to balance his guitar on his head. I saw Lindsey run over to Steve, placing her bass on her head without any effort as it stayed on perfectly.
"Pussy." Linds told him, Steve then flicking the bass off of her head. She caught it and made a gesture trying to square up to him, then plugged her bass into the amp by her. Steve plugged his guitar in as well as Jimmy tossed me his matches while he set up his mic.
"Gerard could you press play on the boombox next to you." Jimmy said. I looked to my side, taking out a match and pressing play on the casual boombox that seemed right out of the 90's. I put my cigarette in my mouth and lit the match, then waved it out as I took a large inhale. I threw the matches by the boombox then nodded along to the setlist they played. I watched Jimmy run around the mini stage, messing around with Steve and Kitty. Kitty was waving her head around, her big pigtails moving wildly. Steve was like Jimmy but without acting like he was on cocaine. He just tended to be calmer. I then drifted my gaze to Lindsey. She was jumping around the whole time, and her skirt would fly up along with her ponytails. She wasn't trying to cause the skirt to fly, she had a very mature look about her when she moved around the stage at times. She caught eyes with me at the end of Tornado, smiling at me before playing the last tab of the song then falling into a sit position.
"I should've grabbed a Redbull or something before this." Lindsey commented, causing a laugh from everyone else. Kitty then turned around to a table behind her and picked up a mug.
"Here, try this." She handed Lindsey the mug and she took a drink. Her nose scrunched up and she handed it back.
"I'll have some more in a minute." She looked at me and placed her bass down, walking over and straddling me as she stole the cigarette out of my mouth to have a drag.
"What was the drink you consumed?" I asked, looking into her eyes as she gave me my cigarette back.
"Vodka and coffee. It woke me up for sure." She laughed and gave me a kiss on the forehead as she left to grab her bass and immediately started playing the next song on the set-list, which I assumed was Faggot. Faggot was the same thing, but when the song was over, Lindsey grabbed a sharpie and approached me.
"Move your head," She said, taking off the lid. I moved my head to the side, and felt her write something on my neck. Once she was done, she handed me the marker.
"Can you write zoid on my neck for me?" She asked, and I did so on the same place. I placed the marker to the side.
"Did you write that on my neck?" I asked, letting her kiss my cheek. She nodded and ran back to the stage to begin Panty Shot. I liked the song a little, but it held undertones that made me go "yikes" while Jimmy was singing. He would notice and smile then point at me while singing the song. It didn't help at all.
I watched them finish the set, then Jimmy asked for the time.
"Uh, 11." I replied, then putting my phone back in my pocket. He nodded and looked at Linds, who was laying on the stage face down with her bass on her back. He gave her head a little tap.
"I'm meditating." She replied. I smiled and got up walking over to her and laying down on my stomach next to her. She moved her head to the side and looked at me, her bangs covering her face and laced with sweat. I moved the strands to the side.
"Lets go over to Frank's. He might have some booze to loosen up a little." I told her, causing her to prop her upper body up on her arms. She looked me dead in the eyes.
"One drink limit for you," She spoke. I nodded and got up off of the stage, straightening out my uniform and then giving Linds a hand. She took off her bass and set it on her amp after unplugging it.
"We'll be back at 6 to grab shit and get ready," She told the band, then the two of us left Jimmy's house and got into Lindsey's car.
"Can I drive?" I asked, holding my hand out for the keys. She nodded and tossed them into my open palm as I clutched them and got into the drivers seat. She got into the passengers and wrapped herself in the blanket, watching me turn her car on then back out of the spot.
I wouldn't say I'm a good driver, just one that passed the test. Lindsey had a little buzz from what I could tell, so my very defensive driving didn't phase her as badly. A couple times she kinda sat up, alerted, then sat back down. We reached Frank's house and I pulled into the driveway, turning off the car.
"I'm bringing the blanket," Linds told me, getting out of the car and letting me keep the keys in my pocket. We approached the door, Lindsey holding the blanket around her back like a cape as I knocked. Mrs. Iero answered, letting us in and telling us that Frank was in his room. I forgot it was school hours, but Frank told me this morning that he had a killer cold.
We went to his room down the hallway, and I knocked on the door. He yelled for us to come in and I opened the door to see Frank laying in his bed. His hair wasn't sleeked down but afry and static made small strands stand up and wave to us.
"Nice to see you fuckers," He greeted, gesturing to two round chairs facing the tv and we went over and turned them around to face his bed as we sat down. Lindsey took the blanket and flew it around to cover her lap, bundling it up to her neck and getting comfortable in the chair.
"I heard you have a show today?" Frank commented, pulling out a drawer and taking out a carton of Marlboro Reds. He gave us each one then we passed his black lighter around.
"Yeah, at Maxwells." She replied, putting her arms on the outside of the blanket to smoke. Frank nodded and threw the carton back in the drawer and pulled out a ash tray for us and one other for him. One of them was stolen from a bar, kudos to Ray for doing that.
"Sounds fun, I'll go with Gee to see the show." He told us, running a hand through his sloppy head of hair.
"Whats going on dude? I don't see any tissues so I'm assuming your day isn't going well." I commented, causing Frank and I to laugh. He shook his head.
"No, I've got a girlfriend now so jerking off isn't appealing." He got up, walking over to his record player and showing us a Bowie record, and we nodded so he put it on.
"Who is the lucky lady?" Linds asked, ashing her cigarette in the tray. I watched Frank's lips form into a smile and he turned to us after turning the record down a touch.
"Jamia." He replied. Lindsey thought for a moment and nodded. I knew a chick named Jamia, only slightly. We both had the same smile in a sense, but she was cute and seemed perfect for Frank.
"Congrats, she's a good chick." Linds replied, putting her hand up and Frank coming over to high five it. He went back onto his bed and blew his nose, throwing the tissue into the garbage can by his dresser.
