I stared at myself in the mirror. The water from my bath, filled with the dirt and grim from my body, was almost all the way drained. I brought a hand slowly to my face, pulling slightly. I looked exactly as I did on earth, the only difference was my skin was grey instead of its normal S/C. It's strange that of all the other demons I've seen, Vaggie is the only other demon to look almost human, like myself. Well, minus the fact she has a giant 'X' over one eye. I gave a small sigh and pulled my freshly washed hair into a bun on top of my head and walked into the bedroom.
'Should I wait in my towel for Charlie to bring me clothes or put on my old ones? I don't really want to put on dirty clothes after my bath but I don't want to open the door half naked either.'
I didn't get to contemplate it for very long, a knock on the door took over my attention. I opened the door to Charlie holding three boxes of what I assume was the clothes and supplies she mentioned earlier.
"Oh Charlie, let me help you." I quickly grabbed two of the three boxes and set them down on the small couch nearby.
I was thankful for how tight I wrapped myself in my towel, i would have been horrified if i accidentally flashed the person trying to help me.
"Thanks." Charlie sighed as she kicked my door closed, setting the final box next to the other two.
Charlie gave me a once over and a small smile appeared on her face.
"I see you are settling in well, how was the bath? I hope it helped."
"Oh it was amazing, I can't remember the last time I had a proper washing, thank you for helping me, Charlie. "I said as I opened one of the boxes to find many clothes inside.
I grabbed a pair of black leggings and an oversized F/C sweatshirt. Comfort was my main priority right now, i no longer had anyone to impress so, no use in dressing up.
"Of course, I hope most of these clothes fit you. I tried to find the clothes that I thought would fit the best." Charlie replied, Sitting on the couch waiting for me to get changed as I walked into my bedroom.
Once I was done, my hair was still pretty damp so i decided to let it air dry,
"Well." Charlie slapped her hands on her legs. "I would say we could go ahead and let you meet the other staff, but it's already super late as it is. I'll let you sleep and I'll come get you in the morning. Goodnight" Charlie left the room and I was left to my own devices.
The hotel room was silent as I slowly started to take things in. I walked over to the window of my room and pulled the curtains open to show the view of the starless sky and the demonic moon shining. I sat on the window seat and rest my head on my arms. This reminded me of a time in my first life back in 1925.
January 3rd, 1925.
I sat on my window seat in my room, watching the stars while listening to the stories of recent murders that had been occurring around my hometown of New Orleans, Louisiana. I was lost in the radio hosts voice as he went over in great detail the happenings that took place. The door to my room had opened up i didn't pay it any mind.
"Y/N, dear. You know i don't like you listening to the radio station on the murders. You want to give your poor Mama a heart attack?" My mother started, picking up the lose clothing i had strode around my room. "-And how many times have I told you to keep this room clean? What if we were having guest over with this room as disorganized as it is?"
I peeked over my shoulder at my mother and cocked an eyebrow.
"I'm sorry, Mama. I was unaware that we were having guest in my room." I sassed back with a small smirk playing on my features.
She only narrowed her eyes at me with a small smile of her own.
"Dear, please turn the radio off. It's givin' me the creeps." my mother pleaded once more, Disregarding my previous statement.
I rolled my eyes and turned my body to face her, My nightgown hiking up to my thighs.
"But Mama, I'm not a child anymore; I'm 20 years old now! and wouldn't it be better to know what's happening so that we could be prepared? He's the only radio host who has all the facts. If anything I'm helping us by listening to it." looking away slightly, i said " His voice is also quick nice, don't you think?"
Mama looked at me and turned down the radio volume.
"Darling, It's un-lady like for a young girl as yourself to be listening to such gore. I understand you fancy this host but please do your Mama a favor and listen to other stations?" She said with my hands in hers.
I immediately blushed at her accusations.
"I-I do not fancy him, I hardly know who he is...I just enjoy listening to his voice is all." I tried to defend myself.
Mama only giggled as she patted my hands, letting go and walking towards the door with my laundry.
"Oh right, right. My bad. I'll be out in the laundry house, your father is downstairs doing his work so please keep it down so he can work in peace."
I gave a small nod and she closed the door. Smiling big, I turned the radio back up, keeping the volume slightly lower than it was previously for Papa, and resumed my position at the window. Listening to the host move on to other matters.
His voice is quite charming, maybe i do fancy him ...but Mama doesn't have to know.
Back in the present
I opened my eyes and groggily walked to my bed,his voice still softly echoing in my head.
