Un-Lady Like.

The bright rays of the red sun peeked in through my window, stirring me awake. I looked over at the small digital clock.

'7:15 Am'

I rolled over, groaning. It was too early to be awake. Pushing myself out of bed and drag myself into the kitchen, I saw the coffee essentials Charlie had brought on the counter and sent a silent mental praise to her because gosh it had been too long without the black liquid.

I took small slow sips of the drink and walked back to the window seat, pulling the curtains back once again. I sat down and stared out into this new world I have been living in. People- Demon watching.

'Ew, this coffee is too weak. But coffee is coffee, i guess.'

I saw many demons walking about. Some pick pocketing experts doing what they do best. This almost reminds me of my first life.

"Hmm, it's just like the view I had at one time." I voiced aloud to no one in particular.

After my cup was empty I rinsed it out in the sink and slipped on some more decent clothing. If I was going to meet everyone else, I should at least look presentable. I walked down to the lobby area which seemed to look almost abandoned.

I looked around the best I could for any sign of Charlie or Vaggie but to no avail, neither of them were to be found.

"Well, Phooey. What now?" I whispered and plopped myself down on the nearby couch.

I began to look into space just going over the thoughts that randomly appeared in my head.

"Oh, Y/N. I didn't think you would be up so early. How did you sleep?" A voice rang out through the room. Snapping me out of my subconscious.

"Huh? Oh yeah, It was great. I've never slept that good since I got here." I said once her question fully processed.

Smiling wide, Charlie gestured for me to follow her. She showed me parts of the hotel I haven't been to yet. The library, the kitchen, the study rooms for anyone who needed to work in a more private setting. As we continued exploring the large building, I inspected all of the paintings and pictures that hung about. There were many pictures of Charlie and two other demons, who I assume are her parents. One of them being lucifer himself. I stopped at one picture of Charlie as a baby while the two demons I've been seeing holding her and smiling.

'Charlie really was such a cute baby.' I thought.

Charlie seemed to notice my lack of presence and walked over to stand next to me.

"That's me and my mom and dad." Charlie said after a beat of silence.

I replied back to her without taking my eyes off the sleeping child in the frame.

"Do you see them very often? Like, do they come visit the hotel any?"

She seemed hesitant to reply at first.

"You don't have to answer that, if you don't want to." I offered softly, finally turning my attention to Charlie.

She closed her eyes and sighed softly, she smiled a bit before turning her head back to the portrait

"No, they don't. My dad's not very fond of my idea for this hotel, let alone that I'm actually running it. He thinks it's a waste of time and a tarnish on the royal name. They still love me, i know they do, I just wish they would be more supportive. I've dreamt about owning this hotel since I witnessed the first Extermination day. It was so terrifying. I hated seeing my people, my home being...Massacred. I wanted to find a way to help with the overpopulation without killing any more of my people. He just never really knew what I was feeling."

A single tear began to well into her eyes before she hurriedly wipe away.

I placed my hand on her shoulder and offered my own smile.

"I know how that feels."

~Flashback~

"Mama! Mama! I got an interview, I got an interview at the station!" I ran into the door of my home. Tackling my mother in the process.

Mama stumbled for a moment before patting my clinging arms.

"Dear, don't run through the house. I just cleaned. Now what are you goin on about?"

"Mama-" I brought the letter I held in my hands and pointed to it "They got my application for the secretary position at the Radio station i listen to all the time. Isn't that just fantastic?!" I said with excitement.

She huffed softly and sat down the carrots she had planned to wash before I ran in.

"The one that talks about all the murders that's been goin on? Dear i just can't see why you want to be around all that talk, It's terribly un-lady like for a girl to be listening to."

My face fell slightly at her words. I thought she would have been happy for me.

"I thought you would be happy for me, Mama. I might get a job at one of my favorite radio stations. Why is that such a bad thing?"

"Oh dear, It's just. Why that job?." Mama said as she turned her body to face me fully. "I just wish you would get a job somewhere less...Gruesome and to actually get you somewhere. You could be anything, A nurse! Doesn't that sound like a more suitable place for a woman such as yourself?"

I frowned slightly and dropped my arms by my side, Ignoring her words, and walked past her to head towards my room.

Stopping at the doorway, I looked over my shoulder. " I...I should start preparing for my interview tomorrow. I want to do my best, Don't wait up for me at dinner, I don't think im very hungry at the moment."

I could hear her calling my name but I kept walking until i made it into my room. I shut the door and slid down. With my knees pressed to my chest, I lowered my face into the little space between my them while the tears slowly crept down my face.

'Why can't she just be happy for me? I know it's not what she would like for me to do but it shouldn't matter. It's my dream to work there, Why is that so hard to accept?
