Ana and her family took a boat from Rocky Point, Jamaica to the United States of America away from the crime her father has committed against Norman Brattleboro Palmer an Englishman that owns the Palmer's plantation where he slaves to fend for his family of eighth his self included almost an free labourer, at this plantation he plants, banana, cocoa, coffee, sugarcane, cotton and tobaccos. He has three daughters and three sons, Jamesetta Kingsley, Frankie Kingsley, Theresa Kingsley, Anastasia Kingsley, Bobby Kingsley and Micheal Kingsley.
The crimes her father committed was the burning down of The Palmer's Plantation because Norman Palmer was killing black men, women and children and selling their organs on the black market. It was an serious offense so he had to flee the parish as well as the country with his wife and children.
Not only did Norman sells organs of black Africans he was romantically involved with Elgar's daughter Jamesetta who at the time was fourteen years old while him Norman was nineteen and has just taken over the Plantation two years running.
Jamesetta said that she hated the feeling of the white man against her skin but Ana could sense that her sister was lying she could see that her sister liked being sexed by Master Norman. At that time it was March 1945 the ugliest time of the year on the Palmer's Plantation. Sadie Kingsley worked inside the great house this is where the planter lives, it was usually on top of an hill overlooking the Plantation it is an two-story house. There is an large central hall with smaller dining sitting and bankquit. The house has large verandahs all along the side of the house, the walls are made of cut-stone, wood which are usually thick. The bottom floor was often use as a storm shelter, as a storage and as a string hold in case of revolts.
Elgar was an field slave along with his sons that are at the fitting age. Sadie was an indentured servant she was in the domestic category. The rest of Ana older siblings consist of others from ages fourteen and over would do hard work on the Plantation.
From ages ten to twelve years old, pregnant slaves and those who were sick would do the lighter work like weeding and harrowing.
The third gang which his Ana's group consists of the children, starting at say, six or seven years old and the elderly. They are responsible for weeding the gardens, carrying sticks for fire, collecting yams etc, to feed to the estate animals and any other general light work that suit their age, size and strength.
