The Toy Car

I was walking down the mall

Noting all the people that walked by

Everyone, in a fluster

Looking for things to buy

And then right there in front of me

A father, a child

The child’s hair was a Mohawk

I looked but not listened

Because I couldn’t hear them talk

I saw as the father looked down at the boy

And presented to his beloved child

A covered new toy

A car ,the toy was

Concealed in a wrap

Of plastic and stapled on a piece of cardboard

And I couldn’t get out of mind

The look on the boy’s face

As he handed him the gift

But no sooner do I began to smile at what I saw

The father took it back

I almost let out an “aw”

The child looked up.

Puts his hand up

As if to say

please give it back

And I wondered why, the father took it away

Was it to look at  for himself

And I thought how the scene was not so touching after all

Until  the very brink of the moment

Again I noted

How the father gave the toy back

Without it’s wrap

It is actually this

He took away the plastic

For the child to play freely

Instead of to just stare at

And then I stopped to think

How a father would give

A gift to gaze at,

And make us dream of us playing with it

To take it away

And make us sad

But return it opened and be glad

To then remember how I asked

Constantly why God had,

Given me these dreams at all

If I would constantly be lead to fall

But no, I realize

It is not so

Because our dreams were not forgotten

He simply took it away for a while

To open it

For his special child

To play with so easily

Without the struggle

Without the pain

So to say

That God never takes things away,

He is a loving Father indeed

Who makes things easy for our needs.
