"Good morning Mark, how was it last night?" I ask the very tire looking night guard, I could tell he wanted to just go home, but I needed to know if anything happened last night. It was 5:30 in the god damn morning for christ sake, he's been up all night just watching the security cameras and looking in on the animals every now and then, who wouldn't be tired.

"Good morning Miss Carter and nothing out of the ordinary, all the animals had a good nights sleep with no incident." He smiled as he went to grab his coat so he could leave before he quickly turned around. "Oh, I think Peanut came round from surgery but has some discharge around his right eye you might want to check out, it doesn't look like anything bad so I let the night nurse go home early as she wasn't looking too well." He with a slightly sheepish look on his face not knowing if he did the right thing or not.

"That's ok Mar, I think it's probably just a watery eye, he just needs a little help cleaning since he's only a kitten." I smiled. That's when he saw both Donna and Schrodinger stood next to me, turns out Schrodinger is ok with a harness and leash, did have to carry him, to begin with, though as I wasn't too sure how far he could walk comfortably. He laughed at the sight.

"See you finally gave in and took him home with you then." He joked while putting his coat on.

"What can I say, I couldn't resist any longer." I joked back. I waved him off and went to the back to clean Peanut's eye. After that, I turned on all the light in the vet clinic and waiting room. God do I hate the mundane stuff. Once I had made sure everything was on and working ready for all the staff I went into my office.

"Right Donna, you stay here while I take Schrodinger here for an X-ray." I smiled as I kissed her forehead. I picked the old man up and closed the door behind me. I know Schrodinger won't move during the X-ray so I didn't have to knock him out or restrain him, which was good as then I would have to wait till one of the nurses arrived and they don't get in till 7 am, and I don't think I could wait that long.

I put the vest on and took his X-ray. I put the picture in the scanner and sent it to my computer so I could look at it while in my office. It only took about 20 minutes so I was OK with leaving Donna alone for that short amount of time. She wasn't very good at being left alone any more not since we were back in the Uk.
