WHEN OUR PLANE TOUCHES back down in New York, I realize that my momentary escape from reality is actually over.

The last day in Copenhagen passed quickly.

Harry had a photoshoot, so I explored the city and roamed through different boutiques while he was gone. I looked through bookshops and bought some local treats from a bakery. I walked through a park and ended my day people-watching near the Baltic Sea.

I didn't mind the time alone – it was peaceful, especially compared to whatever difficulty may hit now that Harry and I are back in the states.

My phone vibrates on my lap as the airplane hostess allows passengers to exit.

H: Let me take you home so you don't have to get a ride.

H: I'll have someone lead you separately to the car once you get in the terminal.

Me: Are you sure that's a good idea?

I wait while the typing bubble appears.

H: We'll be careful...

I smirk at his usual response.

The car rolls up near my townhouse apartment. We drive through a small alley in the back to avoid the reach of any searching eyes.

I sift through my bag to find keys to the door while Harry grabs the luggage. I said I would show him my apartment if he wanted and he seems keen to get a glimpse of where I live. Once the lock turns, I walk through the doorway, only to nearly jump out of my skin at the loud yell I'm greeted with.

"Indi!" She screams as she wraps her arms around my neck. "Te extrañé mi mamacita! I need details. You can't expect me to live off your vague texts."

"Sophie?" My arms instinctively fold around her. "What are you doing here?"

I quickly look around the room only to spot Penny leaning against the wall in the kitchen. Her blue eyes are soft and kind as she gazes at me, patiently waiting for her turn to greet me as well.

"We wanted to surprise you! Don't forget you gave me a key. And I will damn well use it as –"

Sophie's voice cuts off when she glances behind me. Her eyes grow wide and she looks hurriedly from me, to Harry, then back to Penny.

"Oh, well. Um, I see you brought a visitor." Her brow raises suggestively before her right eye gives me a small wink. "I didn't know someone was to be expected."

"What do you mean? You're in my apartment..."

I turn around, looking at Harry who just stands there quietly behind me with an amused smile on his face. I shuffle to the side to allow Harry in before he shuts the door behind him.

"Harry, this is Sophie. And that's Penny," I gesture toward her. "She's my older sister."

"Don't be silly," Sophie brushes by. "We know who he is."

She approaches him boldly with her arm extended out. They promptly shake hands while she tucks a lock of her straight brown hair behind her ear.

"Sophie Galloso. I'm this one's best friend." She inclines her head toward me.

"Nice to meet you." He grins before glancing at me, clearly entertained by my self-proclaimed best friend.

Sophie steps backward, giving room for Penny as she greets Harry similarly – only with a much less forward demeanor.
