Walking right through the doorway, Taehyung stopped and thought about his uncle again. If he insisted on giving her money because he wanted to help her, why didn't he just see her when the time was right? Why couldn't he just tell Taehyung first thing?!
You set the table all pretty and Mandy brought the cutlery to the table.
"Thanks for all your help, Mandy. I had fun."
You stopped in your tracks and thought about Taehyung.
"Hey Mandy, I know you just met Taehyung, but did you get a strange aura from him? Like he wasn't okay?"
Mandy came over and grabbed your shoulders.
"Ohhh, don't you worry about it, girl. Maybe he's thinking about his life or something? Does he have a job?"
You turned to her and nodded.
"Maybe that's what he's thinking about. Don't stress about it. Look, single life is boring as fuck, but when I analyze things, I know exactly what's going on. It's just a hunch really."
You turned around to find Taehyung smiling at you.
That smile can change anyone's mood. You feel your heartbeat quicken and smile softly.
"YOU READY TO EAT?" Mandy said as if she was starving.
"Yeah, I just need to clear my head for a minute. Do you mind if I take a call real quick?"
Your smile faded a little, disappearing for a quick second.
"Is there something wrong? I can tell by how you acted."
Taehyung's eyes became wide. He cleared his throat quietly and gave a-pity-looking expression.
"No, nothing's wrong. I need to call Jungkook. That's all."
Mandy strode in between both Taehyung and I and got all up in his face, giving a menacing look.
"OH? THAT ASSHOLE?" She backed up to your chest accidentally, forgetting you were behind her. "Good luck with him. We all know he's a mess for sure." She walked off to sit in a dining chair and gave a sigh.
Taehyung ignored her completely and spoke out softly.
"It's an important thing that needs to be cleared up. Before you or your family gets involved. Don't worry, it will all be okay. I promise."
You stared at him blankly, and turned to Mandy, then back at him.
"If it's that important, tell me what's wrong."
Taehyung grabbed your hand.
"No, baby. This is an important matter and I have to be the one to end it."
Mandy coughed and we both looked at her.
"What? Wouldn't you feel like absolute trash if you were a third wheel? Man, now I know how Grace feels." She began to grab food and serve herself as Taehyung and I caught eye contact again.
"Y/N, I know I promised to tell you everything, but sometimes you have to dig deep and resolve all matters before things get worse. Nothing will happen to us, okay?"
You felt hurt a little, having the truth hidden from you, but all in all, you need to stay strong too. It's an uncomfortable feeling. The one you get when concern and worry take over your mind. You can differentiate between anxiety and stress, like a pain you get on your sternum. A panic attack they call it. You were far from one though. It wasn't as if he wasn't going to tell you. He would be completely honest with you- only after the matter is done. You sigh and lightly smile.
"As long as you're not hurting yourself in the process, that's all that matters. Tae, I love you too much for you to get hurt. If you do something that would hurt you, I couldn't possibly be able to handle that. Let's just eat and enjoy the time, okay?"
Taehyung felt guilt. He felt horrible knowing how vulnerable she will feel if he does what he needs to do. Betraying her feelings is the last thing he ever thought of. But if anger and hatred resides in him any longer, well who knows what will happen?
I love you, Y/N.
