Chapter 9

Venice Lotus

I don't understand. One minute he's smiling and fine and the next he tenses up and tells me to wait here. Is someone here?

I see him talking to someone at the door then he turns and starts walking toward me again. I reached over and turned off the car and got out.

"Here you go." I handed him the keys when he reached me.

"Thanks. Listen... that man I was talking to is my older brother. He doesn't know about you so I'd like you to not say anything." Griffin said in a low voice. I could tell this was serious. I nodded and linked my arm with his and shut the car door. We walked together like this to the door. "Can you take her things to my room please?" He asked a servant. I glanced at him from the side then looked at his brother.

His brother isn't as handsome as Griffin is but he is still a very good looking man. Griffin is taller but his brother has a stronger build. Griffin has dark hair where his brother has blond. But they both share their father's deep green eyes.

"Hello beautiful, I'm Arron. And you are?" His voice wasn't smooth and heavenly like Griffin's either but it was nice. Just not Griffin nice.

I glanced at Griffin and he gave me a slight nod. "Venice." I said calmly. Arron took my hand and kissed the back of it.

"Creepy!" I thought to myself. Griffin whispered to another servant and they darted up the stairs.

"Arron what are you doing back? Does dad know?" Griffin questioned. I feel short next to them since I barely reach the top of Griffin's chest.

"Well I heard you were getting married so I just had to come home!" Arron smiled at me. Is Griffin the only normal one in this family?

"How nice of you." Even though Griffin was smiling his eyes were lowered into a threatening glare. Arron doesn't seem notice but when he turned to me Griffin's grip on my arm got a little tighter and he pulled me slightly behind him.

"So where did my little brother find such a gem like you?" Arron asked. I don't feel right all of a sudden.

"We met in a café. I worked there and he came in one day while it was slow and we ended up talking for hours. Then he would come in a few times a week and we hit it off." I lied through my teeth so fast it was easy. Griffin just nodded to what I said.

"How romantic. I didn't know you could pull off such a bold move Griffin." Arron teased him.

"I'm really tired. I think I'll go lie down until dinner." I said to Griffin. He looked at me surprised.

"Alright. I'll come check on you in a little bit." Griffin smiled at me with kind eyes and let me go. I headed up the stairs and disappeared down the left hall.

"I'm so lost." I said after a trip of wondering around the halls. This place is so confusing. "Hey you!" I yelled for the servant walking by.

"Yes Ma'am?" She said sweetly.

"Can you take me to Griffin's room please?" I hung my head. She giggled.

"Certainly. And don't worry, I won't tell anyone you got lost." She whispered. We started walking.

"What's your name?" I asked. She looked at me surprised.

"Andy." She answered.

"Nice to meet you. I'm Venice." I smiled at her. She's so sweet.

"Nice to meet you as well." Andy smiled. We made it to his room and I thanked her and she left. I entered the room and shut the door tightly. Servants had moved all my things from my room to his. I wonder why. I sat down on the bed and started taking the tags off the clothes I got. Then the door opened.

"Hey." Griffin said when he saw me. "Need help?"

"Sure." He sat down across from me and grabbed some clothes.

"I know you just got here and you aren't comfortable around me yet but because my brother is back you'll have to stay in here." I didn't know what to say to this. I thought this wouldn't happen until much later. "With me." He felt the need to add.

"Oh. Well that's okay. I'm sure we'll figure something out." I tried to play it off like I was cool and collected. Which I am not! I'm kind of freaking out here.

I ended up claiming the window seat bed thing I slept on last night in my room as my own. He has the bed and I have this. It's actually really comfortable so I'm okay with it. I just wish I could get comfortable.
