I was allowed to leave the hospital a few days later but the doctor told me I had to be careful because of my bruises. I had a problem with my leg so I had to walk on crutches but I was allowed to stay off school until I felt better. I planned to make a slow recovery so I didn't have to face Ashley and the jerks that put me in hospital, but it didn't quite go to plan.

'Cassie!' Zoe shouted from downstairs. 'Can you come into the kitchen for a second please!'

I hopped down the stairs on my good leg and went into the kitchen where Zoe was sitting with her phone in her hand.

'What is it?' I asked her.

'The headmistress just rang and told me that you need to go to school this afternoon with Anna to say what happened last week'

I smiled. I could get Ashley and the others expelled for bullying me. Zoe didn't look too pleased though.

'Whats wrong?' I asked, pulling up a chair next to her and sitting on it.

'Theres a slight problem' she said. 'The headmistress didn't see Ashley or the boys attacking you. All she saw was Anna grabbing one of the boys and throwing him to the ground screaming. Of course the boys went along with it and said that you and Anna were the ones attacking them instead of the other way around'

My smile faded. 'So what am I going to do?'

'Just tell them the truth. Say what happened and she will have to believe you. You even have the bruises to prove it'

'You're right' I said. 'Theres no way they're going to get away with it'

'Exactly' said Zoe. 'Now let's have some tea'. She went to the cupboard and got out a tin of spaghetti. She put it in the pan and turned it on. Then she sat next to me and held my hand.

'I'm actually kind of excited for this afternoon. I can get them expelled and then move school so I don't get any backlash off it. By the way, when am I moving school?' I asked

Zoe's smile faded.

'About that'

'What do you mean?' I asked her.

'I called the school you wanted to move to and they said there wasn't any space for a new student. I'm so sorry Cass, but you're going to have to stay there until a spot opens up. It won't be too long though, I promise'

I was disappointed but I knew Zoe was doing her best.

'Thats ok. I'll be fine'

We hugged and I heard a knock on the door. We left the kitchen and walked into the hallway. I unlocked the door to see my uncle Joe. I love Joe. I feel like I can trust him with anything and he won't tell anyone. I've even told him things not even Zoe knows.

'Hi Joe!' I practically screamed at him as I hugged him.

Then I noticed he was standing next to a girl with short brown hair and blue eyes.

'Hey gorgeous. How's my favourite girl?' He asked.

'I'm fine. Who's this?' I asked.

'This is my girlfriend Jennifer' he said.

'Wow. You've practically never had a girlfriend in your life' I joked, and he hit my playfully on the arm.

'Its nice to meet you Jennifer' I said as I shook her hand. She smiled at me. She seemed nice.

Just then, Zoe appeared in the doorway.

'Hello Joe, this must be Jennifer' she said as she motioned for them to come in.

Zoe put the kettle on and Joe, Jennifer and I sat at the table. Zoe poured out the tea, handed us one each and sat down.

'I have news' Joe said.

I was worried in case it was bad news, but my worry soon disappeared.

'I'm moving house so I can be closer to you two!'

glad I could so him more often.

We all hugged but it was interrupted by Zoe screaming. 'Oh shhhh-sugar!'

I smelled burning and realised that we had forgotten about the spaghetti. Zoe turned the oven off and grabbed a dishcloth to wave around and make the steam go out of the window.

She poured the contents of the pan, which had turned black, into the bin. We all laughed about it and went into the living room. We all talked, and I got to know Jennifer. She was from Newcastle and moved to Australia for a year when she was 13. She had a sister called Leia and was a fashion designer.

Before we knew it, it was 10pm and Joe had to leave so he could pack some more stuff. Caspar was going to move with him so they could still be roommates. Zoe told Jennifer she was welcome to sleep in the guest bedroom for the night but she refused because she needed to be up early in the morning.

When they left, I went up to bed. Zoe said I didn't have to go to school tomorrow so I could have a lie in in the morning. I didn't write in my diary because I was too tired, and as soon as my head hit the pillow, I fell asleep.
