I pulled on a grey jumper with long sleeves that I had to roll up so I could see my hands. Turning round, I faced the mirror by my bed and shuffled along so I could look into the only part of it that I hadn't smashed. I tied my hair up in a ponytail, grabbed my phone and went downstairs to make breakfast. I opened the fridge and a horrible smell hit me like a bus. I felt something cold hit my bare feet and looked down. It was milk. The shelf it was on had broken and everything had fallen. Clearly the milk kid hadn't been on properly and it had started to leak. I shut the fridge door to stop it from dripping on my feet and I grabbed a piece of kitchen roll to mop it up off the floor. I chucked it in the bin then walked away from the fridge, leaving the bottle on its side. If Zoe asked I would pretend I hadn't seen it. I hate milk. Just then, the doorbell rang. I strode to the front door and opened it. There, Anna stood with a plastic bag full of chocolate and crisps. I beckoned her in and she shut the door behind her. We went to my room and we sat for ages eating and talking about Joe moving house and me being able to stay at school with Anna.
'Oh, I almost forgot.' I said, a sudden surge of dread hitting my chest. 'The principal wants us to go into school to talk to us about the fight.'
Anna looked at me with a smile on her face, it turned to a look of confusion when she realised I wasn't celebrating our victory with her.
'What's wrong? It's a good thing isn't it?' She asked.
'No. They think we're the ones that started the fight and that Ashley and everyone is innocent.'
Anna gasped. 'But there were heaps of people there, surely at least one of them would tell them the truth.'
'Yeah, like that's going to happen. Ashley practically runs the school. No one would ever speak out against her unless they want to end up in the hospital, or worse.'
'We can't think like that. We can get someone to do it anonymously.' Clearly she didn't realise that we weren't the sort of people that others would do favours for.
'We're the least popular people in the entire school, everyone hates us and I still haven't got over all the Zoe drama. Nobody wants to associate with us. We have to find another way to convince them we're innocent or just let them expel us.'
Anna started to panic.
'Oh my god we could get expelled. I never realised that oh my god no I can't get expelled. I'll never get into University with that on my record. We need to clear our names.' She started to cry.
She was a brilliant student, she always got top marks and had a squeaky clean record, obviously this would not bode well for her. I handed her a piece of chocolate to distract her.
Suddenly my phone chirped. I looked around for it and saw it on the table next to Anna.
'Pass that to me would you?' I said, holding my hand out.
Anna picked up the phone and looked at the screen. 'Oh my god.' She seemed shocked. I reached out to grab the phone from her hands and saw the notification.

From Thomas;
Please don't contact me

'Why would he send that?' I said, my eyes starting to well up. 'We were best friends how could he say that?' I know it sounded silly but I still cared for him even though we hadn't talked for what seemed like forever, and him telling me not to contact him felt like I was losing a part of my life.
Anna was speechless. She sat there in shock with her mouth hanging open.
'What a dick!' She shouted angrily.
She took the phone from me and began typing a message so fast it was probably a world record.

To Thomas;
Listen here you turd, I don't care how many posh friends or how much money you have now, you can't just turn around and tell my friend to leave you alone after she went out of her way to get in contact with you. She hasn't done anything wrong and you can't even be nice to her for one second. What is your problem?

'No! What are you doing? I can't believe you just sent that. Now he'll never talk to me.' I was so mad at her, but I suppose she was only defending me, once again. Wow, I'm such a wuss, I need to start standing up for myself.
'I just said what he needed to hear.' She said defiantly.
A small tick appeared next to her message and then three dots, meaning he was typing. Oh god I was nervous, and angry, and sad all at the same time.

From Thomas;
Yes she did

'She did? What does that even mean.'
I reread the previous message.
'Does he mean I did do something wrong? What did I do? I never meant to hurt him.'
'That makes no sense.' Anna said. 'He's the one that stopped talking to you. He's the one that did something wrong.' She went to start typing again but suddenly the screen went white.
'What happened?' I panicked, thinking my phone was broken, but Anna pressed the home button and it started to work again. She went back into the messenger app but Thomas wasn't there. She searched his name on Facebook and clicked on his profile.

'He blocked me?'
We barely had enough time to register this before Zoe came bursting into my room, her long dark hair was messy and her cheeks were red.
'Mum!? What's going on? Are you ok? Mum?
'Cassie. I'm so sorry.' She stood in the doorway with a solemn look. 'It's about the fight.'
'What?'
'It just got way more serious. We could lose everything.'
