Chapter 4

I'm awoken to people observed in their chatter.

I feel nothing but my boney back being supported by the wood of the tree.

Newt isn't there.

I can only see a majority of the gladers surrounded around one point of the glade and from what I can make out they're sitting around a table.

Breakfast I guess?

I get up, and my bones hurt. I slept sitting down with my back to a tree all night, what did I actually expect?

But in a way Newt should have woken me up, a girl needs a good nights sleep.

So I stand up, and walk over to the point in which everyone is sitting.

"Hi Rachel!" Says chuck, cheerful as ever.

"morning" I reply trying to be as enthusiastic as him but anyone can tell that he wins - by a long shot and anyone could tell that.

Everyone goes quite once I come. I guess it's because I'm a girl and I don't think they've had many girls here before.

"I guess I'll show her how to get breakfast, it's not like it's anyone's responsibility around here!" He says sarcastically while eyeing newt, but newt doesn't say anything and carries on eating.

I'd rather not cause a scene in front of everyone and go with chuck. 

"Its not that I didnt want to help you," he says "its just that Newt always does this kind of stuff. I didnt want to see you go hungry! Newt has been acting.... not himself since you got here. I dont know why and its not your fault but its just odd ~ I have never seen him like that before."

"I fell asleep on his shoulder last night."  I tell him, not sure of the response I am going to recieve. 

"Im sure thats not it, its not like you kissed him or anything." he reasurres me.

And so we walk, over to a glader called Frypan who is the cook. He serves breakfast, packs lunch for the runners, (unless you stay here, then you eat as normal,) and makes dinner as well. We are not allowed snacks because we only get a certain amount of supplies a month. 

Chuck helps me to pick breakfast, well he more advised me on what he thinks is a good choice. I ended up getting Beacon&Eggs but it probably isnt like this everyday, im probably just getting 'THE GREENIE TREATMENT' as Chuck calls it.

There is one space at the table next to Newt ~ I guess I am going to take it.
