All she could smell was blood.
It covered them and filled the air, the rich iron scent makes her stomach churn with unease, sending every hair upon her body standing straight up.
She watches from the shadows as a few pack guards take on two strangers, they're outnumbered two to four.
The guards should win, she's heard them gloat and talk about their training every day, but as she watches the six men scuffle on the other side of the bars something clicks for her.
One of the guards is knocked off his feet and he lands right in front of her cell, his back colliding with the iron harshly, leaving him dazed.
She doesn't hesitate and moves forward quickly, her chains rattling as she strains against their hold looping an arm through the bars she tightens it around the man's neck.
He thrashes violently against her hold but she presses down harder against his windpipe until his body slowly stops moving.
Her grip slacks slightly and she allows his prone form to slump over sideways as the two strangers finish off the other guards.
The place really reeks of blood now.
"Now why would they lock you up?" One of the strange men stares at her from across the room, sheathing a dagger at his hip as he begins walking towards her.
"Dangerous, wild," She moves backwards, away from the bars as the young man crouches down on the other side, dark brown eyes flickering over her as his mouth turns down in a frown.
"You look like you're stuck between your wolf self and your human self,"
"she's a Vlan', a wild one, they're a seperate race from werewolves that are nearly extinct. They must've mistook her as a demon or a monster," The second man had been rooting around in the pockets of one of the guards and turns to them, tossing a ring of keys to his companion.
"Not kill?" Her gaze flickers between the two as the younger man begins testing out the keys, "Nah you're much more valuable alive,"
"Caleb!"
"What it's true! Now hurry up, the rest of the pack should be returning soon and I don't want to have to deal with any more flea bitten mongrels," The man Caleb heads back outside as the cell door creaks open.
"Confused,"
The boy raises an eyebrow as he slowly approaches her, kneeling to unlock the iron collar around her neck, "Rescue? Why?"
"Well if the werewolves locked you away you gotta be important right? You're like the heroine or something," The collar hits the floor with a solid thud between them, sending up a small cloud of dust as the boy tucks the keys away in a pocket, "Come on...."
"Cysera," She stands slowly, her legs trembling beneath her light weight, she can't recall the last time she actually stood on them, she didn't have much reason to.
"I'm Rhett,"
