Lost

It's like my brainpower is clotting
clotting the narrow passage ways
From the left to the right brain
It's always the same
Image after image
Of disturbing or surreal
They're always there to guide me
Show me how to feel
Despite the endless crying
Or begging to go home
It won't let me leave this
It still won't leave me alone

My sickness has no name yet
Yet it's aching in my veins
I'm blinded by temptation
Temptation by the strange
I wanted to start walking
To leave it all behind
But this is still my home now
Though cruel and unkind
I'm forced to stay silent
I cannot call for help
Because the world is falling
Falling from the shelf
The shelf of many memories
That's faded and forlorn
Like picture frames of strangers
In stories left untold

Despite the distant calling
I'm waiting to be freed
From the chains that haunt me
In daytime and in dreams
And of that distant calling
The name that isn't mine
Is called for what's forever
Forever in my mind
But the chains that keep me standing
Standing in the way
They're not made from the iron
Or water in decay
They're made of all the nightmares
The silent scream that left
A wounded heart that ached
And ached and ached and wept
