Lucinda and Zane were all packed up, Zane was snug in her satchel and they were going over the plan to get the hair.

"So remember, I'm going to leap out of the water and either pull the human in or slice a little of their hair off."

"Yes of course I remember" Zane complained. "You're not usually this jumpy."

"Because this is pretty risky compared to most of the things we've gotten, and.... You know, Tavari" Lucinda explained.

"Ohhh right"

"And if you get distracted by a shiny thing again I'm putting you outside to sleep with the fish!" Lucinda said as she swam out of the cave.

"Oh come on that was one time!" Zane argued.

"We almost got pulled into a ravine by a giant squid!" Lucinda said, exasperated. They swam higher and into more open ocean than the rocks surrounding their cave.

"IT WAS GOLD FROM A SUNKEN SHIP!!!"

As the two bickered they didn't see the shark swimming below them. Lucinda heard a large swish and looked down, she quickly moved to the side, just barely missing the sharks jaws.

"SWIM!!" cried Zane. Lucinda swam towards land, she knew if they reached shallow waters they could wait the beast out. Lucinda looked back to see the shark just barely on her tail and it had a scar over one eye...

Zane gasped "It's Titanus!"

"I KNOW!" yelled Lucinda, she swam through a reef and still wasn't able to lose him. She made sure to stay low to the ground to avoid being attacked from below but nothing worked, he still was following close behind. Lucinda eventually got to shallow waters and caught her breath, the water was just barely deep enough for her, much less a giant great white shark. "I think we're safe, but we should probably wait him out here" she said.

"Irene, that was close, do you think it knows where we live?" Zane said.

"I wouldn't doubt-" just then a huge wave overtook them and hit them like a car. Lucinda wasn't used to being on the surface so when she saw the sky again for the first time in a month she gasped. Lucinda stared into the blue as they were overtaken by another wave, the world spun and she grew dizzy. Lucinda hit a rock that was jutting out and cried in pain as it hit her arm. Then all of a sudden they were on the beach.

"Zane? are you okay?" Lucinda asked.

"Yeah I'm fine! What about you?" Zane said. Lucinda tried to pull herself up into a sitting position but a stabbing pain came into her shoulder and saw blood run down her arm.

"I-I injured my shoulder" Lucinda said. "Zane can you run into the forest and find a vine or anything?"

"But I-" Zane stopped as a woman appeared, she was walking down the beach. She was short, with short brown hair and blonde streaks, she bore glasses and a green dress. Her amber eyes reminded Lucinda of honey. Lucinda stared into them as they widened in surprise to see her. Kim dropped her basket of seashells.

Kim stood in awe. She had never seen a mermaid, she'd only heard rumors from sailors and even once a "true story" from Garroth about a girl with raven hair. She had a beautiful dark purple tail and orange hair with ruby red eyes and a black bra. They stared at each other, then Kim noticed her shoulder, it looked pretty bad with blood running down it and a gas.

Once when Lily fell down the stairs late at night she had also injured her shoulder when she fell onto a vase, there was no doctor available so Kim had to be the one to bandage it. For a full week afterwards Lily was quiet and didn't yell or make fun of her, which Kim assumed was the only "thank you" she would get.

Kim slowly walked over to Lucinda.

"H-hi" Kim stammered, the closer she got the more beautiful she realized this mermaid was and the more her face flushed. "Uhm, are you ok?"

Lucinda looked at Zane, could she talk to humans?

"N-no, my shoulder is dislocated I think" Lucinda croaked, her shoulder began to throb horribly .

"Okay, uhh here" Kim ripped off part of her dress and wrapped it around the wound, then she ripped off another part of her dress and tied a tourniquet.

"T-thank you, I don't know what I could've done." Lucinda said, shaking with shock.

"O-of course! I mean why are you all the way up here on the shore though?"

"A shark, it's been hunting me and my friend for a while." Lucinda explained. Zane, who had been hiding on the other side of Lucinda poked his head out.

"It uhh takes a while to heal, so I suggest you don't take it off."

"Thank you, really"

"Will you be ok alone?" Kim asked, concerned for the stranger.

"Yeah I should be fine"

"O-okay, uhh do you need help getting into the water?"

"Maybe it's better if you pick me up? I can swim but I shouldn't put weight on my shoulder" Lucinda suggested.

"Uhh yeah!" Kim picked her up despite her size and waded into waist deep water. She put Lucinda in the water and they stared awkwardly at each other.

"Here, I saw you were collecting shells." Lucinda said as she handed Kim an abalone shell she'd been carrying in her pack.

"Oh wow thank you!" Kim said.

"It's the least I can do, I have to go but one last thing."

"What?"

"Do you that cave that goes into the water? The one that's nearby a small dock and is hidden with vines?"

"Uhh yeah?"

"Meet me there during the next full moon"

"Wait what?! Why? I-"

"Please? I just... have to see you again"

Kim stood there, looking at Lucinda. Her eyes stared into Kim's soul and it made her entire face flush.

"Ok, sure I guess"

"Okay! See you then!"

Kim watched Lucinda swim away, then brought back the shells and just as Kim expected she got yelled at by Lily, especially for the state of her dress. Kim gave her the shell besides the abalone and retired to her room. She couldn't sleep, so she pulled out the abalone shell and watched it glimmer in the moonlight. Who was she? And why would she want to see me again? Kim thought as she drifted to sleep.

I tried to be as accurate as possible? Great white sharks ambush their prey from below, their white belly blends in from below and when looking from the top their darker tops also blend in. I used to be so obsessed with animals jhfjkdjdkkdj did you know the animal that's fastest and can run the longest is the pronghorn?? It can reach similar speeds to a cheetahs but the difference is a cheetah can only run in short bursts whereas a pronghorn can run up to 20 miles at top speed?? I think thats cool and you can blame Wild Kratts for that one hahaaaaa I got cool animal facts for days. Anyway hope you enjoyed!!!
