"But I don't want to leave you." He said.
"You have to. We're doing this for Rory." She answered somberly.
"Of course we are. And because I gave her my word I will go, but I just can't leave you and Rory. I can't not be here for you and her." Lucifer insisted.
Chloe smiled, and gently stroked his cheek lovingly. "If we don't listen to her, things will be very different." She warned.
He smiled back at her softly. "Who says it'll be a bad different?"
Chloe woke up to Rory crying. She smiled and rose to her feet tiredly.
She and Trixie moved into the penthouse about a month after Chloe told her that she and Lucifer were having a baby. Chloe could still hear her squeal. Chloe wouldn't forget it. Or how giddy Trixie was when Chloe came home from work one day. She was so confused.
Chloe walked out of the elevator and saw Trixie standing there, practically bouncing and giggling uncontrollably.
"What's going on?" Chloe asked with a nervous smile.
"Just come here." She said giddily.
Chloe obliged reluctantly, the smile on her face slowly growing. Much like her baby bump.
"Just so you know, you don't have to ask me if I'm okay with it. He already asked me." Trixie said.
Chloe cocked her head confused. "Huh?"
She heard Lucifer clear his throat behind her, so she turned around. A gasp left her lips and her hand flew to her mouth. She turned to see Trixie bouncing and smiling the widest Chloe had ever seen her smile. She turned back to Lucifer.
"Yes!" She yelled happily and rushed to her knees to embrace him.
Lucifer laughed. "But I haven't even asked yet!" He said laughing.
Chloe pulled back. "You didn't need to."
Trixie rushed to join them and Lucifer happily embraced her too.
"I'm glad you're going to be my dad." Trixie said into his shoulder.
Lucifer chuckled breathlessly as he looked at them. "Me too, Trixie."
She walked into Rory's nursery, picking up the small one year old. "What's the matter? Did you get scared?" Chloe asked softly. She sniffled and snuggled into Chloe's chest. Chloe sighed happily as she sat down in the rocking chair in the corner, softly rocking Rory.
Lucifer stood in the doorway and smiled. The window straight ahead showed a soft sunrise as the soft pink see-through curtains billowed in the gentle breeze. He looked at the soft white walls, painted with trees and animals to look like an enchanted forest, Trixie's idea. Her crib, against the further wall to Lucifer's left, was a darker brown, with a white crib cover on the inside to keep Rory from getting her tiny arms stuck in the wooden bars. The wall next to him on his left had her changing table, with drawers for storage. "Aurora" was spelled out in wood letters painted white above her crib. To the right of the window was the rocking chair, and in the wall next to it, the closet. The closet had never had a door, Lucifer never really knew why, so they hung soft pink solid curtains to act as a door while matching the ones on the window.
Inside the closet, other than a shelf at the top and of course the rod to hang cloths, had a wooden six cube organizer filled with Rory's other necessities. Things such as shoes, socks, blankets, and the like. Chloe looked up from Rory's small sleeping figure and saw Lucifer standing there.
"You'd think you'd never seen this place with the way you're looking." Chloe chuckled softly.
Lucifer chuckled softly back and walked over to her. He gently took Rory from Chloe, cradling her gently in his arms, and walked slowly to her crib to put her back to bed. He tucked her in with her favorite blanket, green on one side with animals on the other, and gently rubbed her head. He smiled down at her.
"I used to wonder if I made the right choice by staying, but now, every time I look at her, I know that this is where I should be. At least for the time being." Lucifer whispered.
Chloe walked up and wrapped her arms around him. Lucifer turned slightly to wrap an arm around her shoulder.
"I used to worry that we were making a mistake. But the first time I saw you hold her, and every time you've held her since, I know that we made the choice that we thought was best. Best for us and for Rory. And I've never been more certain." Chloe said softly, looking at him, then back down at their sleeping daughter.
Lucifer smiled at her. "I've never been happier than I am when I'm with you, and Rory, and Trixie." He said, close to a whisper. "I came in to tell you that it's five am." He said as he led her out.
"Damn. I still have an hour before I even need to be dressed." Chloe said.
"Then don't be." Lucifer smirked. Chloe looked at him confused.
"Don't be dressed." He clarified. Chloe smiled in realization and looked down. He lifted her chin with his finger so she'd look at him. He leaned down to whisper in her ear. "We still need to shower."
Chloe smirked too. "It would save water." She smiled. "Race ya." She said playfully, laughing as she ran to their bathroom. Lucifer laughed as he chased her.
