Deep Breath Part One

You walk to the TARDIS and look down, noticing the phone for the TARDIS is hanging down. You grab it and place it back into the little cubby it belongs to before walking into the TARDIS, shaking in fear. What if the Doctor regenerated and didn't recognize you?

"Doctor?" You call out, looking around for the man with floppy brown hair and a stupid bowtie. "Doctor are you in here?"

"I'm here, (Y/N)." You quickly turn to see the Doctor staring at you from beside the console.

You smile and run up to him, bringing him into a tight hug. "You haven't regenerated! You're okay! Right?"

"I'm still in the process. It's taking a bit longer this time." He pulls back from the hug and looks down at his hand, which is now glowing gold. "He's-a comin'."

"Doctor... You can't stop it?" You ask, tears in your eyes.

"Not unless you want me dead. Even so, it's too late. It's starting." He says, looking directly into your (E/C) eyes.

"I don't want you to change. I'm so scared, Doctor. Please... don't change. Don't leave me." You whisper quietly, your heart beating fast and hard in your ribcage.

"We all change. When you think about it, we're all different people, all through our lives. And that's okay, that's good, you gotta keep moving, so long as you remember all the people that you used to be. I will not forget one line of this, not one day. I swear. I will always remember when the Doctor was me." He takes off his bowtie and lets it drop to the floor slowly. Tears gather in your eyes and you step back, knowing that last time ended up in explosions.

You take in every last detail of your Doctor until suddenly his head goes back and not even a second later, he's a completely new man.

A completely old new man.

"Kidneys! I've got new kidneys! I don't like the color!" The Doctor shouts.

"W-What...? You don't like the color of your kidneys?" You ask. "How can you even tell what-"

"That's not important. Come on, come on, come on!" He looks around and sighs. "Do you know how to fly this thing?"

You facepalm and sigh. Of course you know how. The Doctor, Sandshoes as your previous Doctor and the Doctor from the Time War called him, taught you. "Yeah I know how to. When and where?"

"Earth, present day, your flat. No! My flat? Yours, definitely yours. I live here in the TARDIS." He states, his new Scottish accent getting thicker with each word due to his confusion.

You walk over to the controls and put in the coordinates that the Doctor had told you to put in. You were wary about listening to him in this state of confusion, but you didn't know what else to do. You start flipping switches and pressing buttons until you notice the Doctor doing the same.

"Doctor, stop! You're messing it up! Oi, DON'T PRESS THAT BUTTON! Do you not remember that leads to radioactive gas being leaked into dock seven?" You ask, letting out a frustrated sigh. "You would think you know your own TARDIS."

"Well who told you that rubbish?" He asks, his voice going a little higher as his attack eyebrows, as you'll now call them, raise.

"You did! As bowtie boy! Now stop before you-"

The Doctor pressed one more button and suddenly you were being jostled around the TARDIS. You grabbed onto the railing at one point and then the Doctor's hand so he would stop flailing about. The TARDIS was now on it's side so you were just hanging there.

"Great!" You muttered. "Have you got your sonic?"

"My- My- Yes! Er, where is it?" He uses his free hand to check his pockets.

"Hurry up before- Ah!" You let out a shout as your hand slips when the TARDIS shakes again, but now it's moving like it was picked up.

The TARDIS must now be right-side-up because the gravity is back to normal.

You go to the console and groan, knowing you can't read Gallifreyan.

"Doctor, a little help please." You motion him over. He comes up and looks at the screen in your hands.

"You brought us to the Jurassic Period! Now what did you go and do that for?" He asks.

"Why did you mess with the controls?" You sigh and breathe out. "I can do this. Doctor, go sit down. You're nuts right now, absolutely nuts."

"Let me drive. I want to see if I still can." He says, starting to go ahead and press buttons on the console.

"If we crash or you make the TARDIS explode, I'll be very upset."

"You can't do anything to hurt me. You're like a thumb-sized leprechaun!" He states.

The TARDIS begins shaking and you hold onto the railing for dear life once again. "I'm taller than that, idiot!"

"Hoo-hoo, could've fooled me!" The TARDIS stops and he smirks. "See? We're perfectly-"

The TARDIS moves again and you're spinning all about, landing on random surfaces. The console starts smoking and you let out a shriek in terror. What's going on? Why is this happening with the TARDIS?

You land with a rough bang to the grated console floor and groan. You hear a knock at the TARDIS door and you stand slowly.

"Hello? Exit the box and surrender to the glory of the Sontaran empire!" A voice from outside demands.

The new Doctor opens the door and says only one word before closing it again. "Shush."

"Doctor?" The voice calls from outside in confusion. The Doctor opens the door again.

"I think we were swallowed by a dinosaur but I got us out! You hear that, (Y/N)? You shouldn't doubt me." He steps out of the TARDIS and you do the same, thankful to be breathing fresh air that doesn't have smoke in it.

"Oh! You've got a dinosaur here too then! Hello big fella!" The Doctor says as he looks over. You do the same and sigh.

"It's the same one that swallowed us, idiot." You said.

"No, no, no, can't be. Oh!" The Doctor looks up at a reptillian woman and a human and walks over to them. "The green one and the not-green one! Or the other way around. You, er, you remember, er... Thingy. The not-me one."

"(Y/N)." You coughed a little.

"Could be, could not be."

"It is (Y/N)." You growl out in annoyance. "Doctor, you need to calm down. We should fix this. Something's gone wrong when you flew the TARDIS."

"Wrong? What's gone wrong?" He asked, looking directly at you. "Did you regenerate? I remember! You were a cyberman head! Handles!"

"So you can remember your toy's name but not mine?" You scoff.

The two women and the Sontaran, which you didn't know the name of, stared gobsmacked at the two of you, unable to utter a single word.

"You're giving the lady a headache with all the lanterns. Can't you turn them off?" The Doctor turns towards the reptillian.

"How would you know that?" The Sontaran asked.

"You should know I speak dinosaur, (Y/N)." The Doctor states.

You step by the Sontaran and sigh. "He's not (Y/N), I'm (Y/N)!"

"Nevermind that, let's, er, let's take five." The Doctor faints and finally the two women can speak.

"Who's he?" The human asks.

"That's the Doctor. He regenerated. Again." You sigh, looking down.

"Well... here we go again." The reptillian woman smiles.
