Luke & Lucy - 24 & 10
H A R R Y
Just landed, bro. Should be there in ten. H.
Good timing, we just got here. D & L can't wait to see you. L.
I smile at the text, I can't wait to see them too. It's been five weeks since I've flown back home from college and even at twenty one, where independence remains a novelty and something that is personally cherished as I begin to make my mark on our world, I still look forward to coming home for the weekend to see the twins and my brothers. We're close, some would say through circumstance but I hope to this day our bonds would not have been any less despite our past.
I grab my small case. We slowly file out the plane and I make my way out following the tediously slow moving crowd to the exit and entrance of the airport.
"HARRY!" I a girl's voice I adore, my heart rate quickens in anticipation as I look up and spot Luke smiling at me immediately, towering over most of the crowd. Suddenly I see the heads of two tiny blonde girls running towards me, diving nimbly in and out between the public.
I drop my suitcase by my feet and they both fly into me, their hands ruthlessly grabbing me with sweet affection, not wanting to let go. A sense of nostalgia washes over me, just like when they were little. They used to fight when greeting any of their brothers if they haven't seen us in a while about who got to be picked up or hugged first.
"Hey guys, I missed you," I breathe in their sweet vanilla scents, and lean my head down to kiss both crazy mops of curly blonde hair that hasn't changed since their childhood, the only difference being Darcy has hers cut shorter.
"I missed you so much, Haz! Five weeks is too long," Lucy hugs my torso hard, I wince but I don't mind.
I bend my neck down, "its only just over a month, gorgeous," I laugh, smoothing her hair back. "You're looking far to pretty and grown up," I raise my eyebrows before kissing her head.
"Nah, simply not acceptable," Darcy stands on her toes and just about grabs my face, wanting my attention and grins, pinching my nose. "There was no one to practice with," she glares at me for a second before smiling.
"You missed me then?" I laugh, messing her hair up and grab her before she can squirm away, and grab her in a bear hug which she squeezes back tight.
"Good to see you bro," I look up and my oldest brother grabs me in a hug.
"Yeah, always good to come back," I clap his back and shake his hand. "The house quiet without me?" I grab my suitcase and we walk out. Lucy lovingly slips her arm through mine.
"Nah, the twins made up for that," Luke shakes his head, chuckling. "We missed you though, Darcy kept making us be in the goal for hockey practice in the back yard."
"Definitely have to play with you, Darce. You still got your game?"
"Yep, next Friday. Can you really not make it?"
I shake my head, "sorry Darce, I'm away training myself that weekend. I'll try and make the next one, for sure," I sling my other arm around my hockey sibling, bringing her to my side.
Luke leads us to his parked car and I climb in the front.
"What's the plans then, for this weekend?" I reach over and put my seatbelt on as Luke pulls out of the parking lot and drives us home.
"I thought it would be nice to celebrate you coming home to go out for steak tonight. Tom and Senna are joining us too."
"Decent, that will be good. Even better coz' you'll be footing the bill," I laugh.
