The Great Gatsby
F. Scott Fitzgerald
The Great Gatsby is a short novel with a lot of content! Killings, lies, illegal business. It has it all. And it sure does keep you intrigued. You may have watched the movie but it has nothing on the book. Its more scandalous, secretive and emotional than you would have thought it to be. Characters change with every chapter, to the point where you cant tell anymore if you like them or not, all you can do is follow Nick's narration through till the end and once the book is closed can you only make your own opinions.
Its a chilling story which some might call romantic, in my opinion it is far from it. Yes, Gatsby waited five years for Daisy and it sounds lovely. But he sounds obsessive of her and her life. Daisy on the other hand is a 'beautiful fool' who is following commands from a higher leader and doesn't know how to do anything else. She's selfish as well but this seems to be overlooked with her beauty, making the novel all the bit more confusing.
If you want a quick read with scandal, mystery and secret lovers. This is the right book for you. it can be read easily in one sitting due to the intensity of finishing the mystery of Mr Jay Gatsby. And yes you can one hundred percent picture him as Leonardo DiCaprio, making it that more interesting to read.
