"Wait, wait, wait. This has been going on for how long now!?" Henry asks.
I scratch the back of my head self-consciously.
We're sitting in Trauler's living room; it's sparsely decorated, with a painting above the fireplace and a couple of deadheads. The furniture is old but still in good condition and, surprisingly, it all matched. There's a sofa, a love seat and an easy chair, all arranged in a rough U-shape around the fireplace; there isn't a coffee table so there's just an empty space in the middle. I was sitting on the sofa facing Henry and Trauler, who sat on either side of the love seat. In that moment I could've been sitting in the center of the furniture on display for all to see and I wouldn't've felt as uncomfortable as I did right then.
"A-a few months now...?" I tugged at a hole in my t-shirt, while tapping my feet nervously.
They had forced me to tell them about what has been happening after Trauler had apologized about earlier. I was hesitant at first but then the dam had broken, everything spilled out; the dreams, the demons, everything. "So.. lemme get this straight. You've been plagued with nightmares for months now, had a face-to-face conversation with a demon, you're being stalked by what seems to be their leader, and on top of all that you've shown negative reactions to a devils trap and holy water." Trauler says.
"Um and I've been getting stronger—"
"—ridiculously strong," Michael interrupts.
He and Ty walk into the living room, they're both covered in bark chips and dirt. Henry had told them to go chop some wood while we had our little chat. Though we all knew the house didn't need any more wood, due to the gargantuan pile out behind the house.
He turns to Tyler. "For God's sake they must've thrown that box a quarter mile or more."
Ty was in the middle of brushing bark from his hair, "What? Really?" He looked at me in disbelief.
"Okay maybe I exaggerated a little, but it was damn far."
I mutter something about how it wasn't that impressive but I'm cut off by Tyler.
"So... anything else you wanna tell us?" He raises an eyebrow.
I laugh nervously, "Other than the fact that I'm turning into Superman?"
"Ha ha very funny," he glares at me balefully.
My hands start to sweat and the incessant tapping of my foot gets faster. My eye starts to twitch.
I don't like this.
Suddenly I blurt, "The dreamons won't let me sleep!"
I blink, the hell did I just say?
Mentally, I facepalm. I had combined demons and dream, damn mouth.
Despite the solemn mood I started to laugh and Tyler, who had been holding back for my sake, joins me.
Soon the whole room is laughing.. strange how much tension can be released with a simple laugh.
[sorry about the late (and short) chapter. these last couple of days have been sorta hectic. i'm going to try to get a chapter out once a week possibly every two weeks, i'm not sure yet. but i'll definitely post on Fridays or Saturdays, if anything changes i'll let y'all know.
