CHAPTER 2
Inzpector Indigo had been driving for a long time, and Queen Melon had started to get impatient. “How long until we arrive at my lair?!” She said impatiently, as Indigo went down yet another long and windy road. In truth, Indigo was not even heading in the direction of his house. He had started off going to the police, hoping that they would arrest her, but he had changed his mind, thinking that this magnificent woman was not one who could be kept behind bars. All he knew is that he could not go home. His two children, 10 year old Raymundo and his 5 year old little sister Deziree, must not become involved with this dangerous woman.
Indigo began to get very nervous, and even considered driving both himself, and this evil witch of a cliff, just to bring everything to an end. However, he remembered that his little children had no other family, and knew that he couldn’t do something like that to them.
Indigo had just come to the conclusion that he would pretend to be buying something from a shop and run away as fast as possible, when Queen Melon began to talk again and to his horror, he realised she was reading his driver’s licence, “This licence says that your address is 16 Rowling place!” exclaimed the Queen, anger creasing her beautiful face, “that is only ten minutes from Jimmy’s! Why have we been driving for an hour? How dare you trick me!”
Indigo didn’t know how to respond, the queen had gone an angry red colour and he had never been so frightened in his life. He cowered in his seat, waiting for the Queen’s shout, but instead found his face pulled very close to hers. “You listen to me you stupid little rat.” Whispered the Queen menacingly, “I now know where you live, and if you do not turn this car around right now, your children will be murdered in a much more painful way than they need to be.”
Indigo gulped in terror, and slowly began to reverse the car.
***
Indigo sat in stunned terror as he turned the engine of the car off. He was parked in a short driveway that led to a simple yet homely brick house.
"Get out!" Queen Melon roared, slapping him fiercely across the cheek. "Show me to my lair!"
As soon as he believed that it was not possible to feel more frightened than this, little Deziree came bounding out of the house. She ran on chubby little legs and her beautiful curly hair danced on her shoulders, as her stunning blue eyes shone with glee. However, her joyful run to her beloved father was stopped short, as fear entered her innocent eyes upon seeing Queen Melon in all her glory.
"Papa?" She whispered, as she noticed him go stiff.
Queen Melon took a fierce step forward and the young child cowered. But suddenly, the Queen's posture slackened and a lovely smile spread across her cheeks, disguising her evil.
"Dear, dear, child, there is no need to be frightened." She cooed in a soft but bewitching voice. However, Deziree did not sense any danger and smiled, purposely striding back into the house.
"Come on miss!" she called happily. "Come inside. Daddy, come on too!"
Queen Melon shot a warning glance at Indigo before stalking into the house slowly, following the beautiful Deziree.
With a sinking heart Indigo entered the house behind Queen Melon. He watched as his beautiful daughter ran up to her brother and slipped her hand into his. He was very different to his sister in looks, and instead of the beautiful blonde of his wife, had a mob of black hair, inherited from his father. Indigo watched as Deziree whispered something into Raymundo’s ear. They both giggled, looking between Queen Melon and their father.
