Chapter 1: Unexpected gift

Two week before......

She stood there like a lost child. Her eyes reflected the peculiar surrounding. That place looked scary and was overwhelmed with deep darkness. Some withered old trees spookified by some spider webs stood all over the area. Her bare feet felt the dried black grasses underneath it. She inhaled a sharp breath. The air around her was highly overtaken by the foul-smelling odour. Her soul felt something unusual , something sinister.

With her slowly increasing heartbeat, she strode forward. Her palms were cold, not by the cold area, It was because of her feared soul. After few steps, she found a dilapidated and abandoned building. The entrance of the building itself made her quiver. There were two creepy statues in the edges of the walls. The statues resembled a demon. They had dragon's wings and the twisted horn of aries horoscope in its head. Its' eyes were yellow and was  filled with angry look. While she was petrified by the eldritch statue , the gate opened gradually with a rickety sound and wolf let out its sound. It alarmed her. She decided to go back. She turned and ran, ran as if her death was chasing her. She didn't see whatever is in front of her. Finally, when she opened her eyes, She found herself blocked by a wall. A dreadful voice recited her name. It kept on ringing in her ears. Suddenly her surrounding felt warm, she turned around to check it. She found the whole area around her was burning. The statue which she saw in the gate was flying towards her alive. It spitted fire all over the area. It stopped and inhaled deeply.Her heart stood still as she saw the flame from it's mouth coming towards her slowly, and then....

"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!" Luna shouted madly and burst a balloon.

"Ahhhhhhhh!" The children screamed in terror and ran away. With laughter in her face, she stood up and called them back. They seemed to be drowned in fear. She tried again but there was no response.

"Kids, want some cake and chocolates?" A elderly feminine voice came from behind distracted Luna from her attempt of calling them back.

"Yay!!!!!" The cluster split up quickly as they heard 'cakes and chocolates'. Luna too joined them but the same voice stopped her.

"Lunaa, You started your scary stories again?!" Luna just smiled as she saw it was not a serious one.

"Sorry! Mom" She smiled again at her mom's effort in faking anger in her face.

 "Leave it! Don't you want a gift from me?" Her mom asked Luna who completely forgot that she didn't received any gifts from her parents. " I want it!!" She jumped out in excitement.

"It is in the balcony" As she heard it, she steadily stepped towards the balcony lifting her rose-red gown predicting her present.

While she reached there, She found an adoring rose plant with a red rose glinting in the beam of the moon. She paced near the plant where she found another surprise. There was pretty necklace with a crescent moon pendent. Her hands traced the necklace and took it.

"How is it?" A male voice reached her from beside.

"Just awesome dad!"

"Me and your mom decided to buy you a necklace but we didn't expect we would find a moon pendent with it!" He smiled and Luna rushed to embrace her dad. "Thank you!" She murmured and the both went to the hall. Luna hugged her mom and wore the necklace. After sometime the celebrations finally ended and the trio were left alone in privacy.

"Luna !" Luna's mom called out.

"I think your story isn't a imaginative one,  Am I right?" She queried her daughter who was busy in opening her presents.

"Yeah, mom... It was my yesterday's nightmare....."  She replied and a bell sound interrupted them. Luna went to open and found a Delivery boy standing with a big parcel in his hands. Luna brought it in with curiousness filled face.

"Who send it, dear?" Her mom questioned looking at the big box.

"Grandpa!!" She exclaimed and slowly opened the box. There was a gift-wrapped box and a small note in it. She chose to read the note first. It read...

Dear Luna,

            Happy Birthday!!! You had grown up into a teenager today. Sorry, I couldn't visit you... But I send you my present. Hope you will like it more than your parents' gifts...

 Luna placed the note aside and took the gift-wrapped box out of it.  She unfurl the wrappers and saw a beautiful oval antique frame mirror. It's reflecting side was blocked by a cardboard.

"What's his gift?" Luna's mom asked in the same curiosity.  "It is a mirror!" She answered and before her mom could react, she removed the cardboard and saw an unexpecting thing..........It reflected everything behind her except herself

"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!" She screamed and the mirror crashed into the floor, scattering into thousands of pieces......
