All day I've been having this strange feeling towards the new girl, Stephanie. I've got this need to know her, all of her, and to touch her, hold her. God, she's beautiful! I would go as far to say she is the most beautiful creature I've ever seen.

Her hair is the darkest brown, almost black, and amazing, bright hazel eyes. I shouldn't be thinking like this! I'm not supposed to think her radiant smile would brighten the darkest corners of my heart. She shouldn't be on my mind when I'm supposed to be practicing my free-throws, but yet I can't shake her image from my mind.

"Boy, I don't know what's on your mind and I definitely don't want to know! You better get your head in the game if you plan on helping ue beat Western this Friday!" Coach yelled to me from the sidelines after practice was over.

"Yes, sir!" I yelled back before heading to the locker rooms. Every since Stephanie showed up today in first period I've been distracted. I need to ask somebody, who's a werewolf like me, why she's affecting me like this. I can't go to my best bud, Dylan, because he's just not one you talk to about your feelings. Maybe Dad. Dad will definitely know.

Demons by Imagine Dragons was playing on the radio when I cranked up my 2013 Mustang. I turned it on up as I sped out of the school parking lot. When I get home I'm going to talk to Dad about this thing with Stephanie because it's driving me crazy! I can't be thinking about her all the time, I'll start failing classes, get kicked off the basketball team and lose my scholarships. Dad'll have the answers. I'm certain of it.

"Dad!" I yelled as I entered the house.

"In the kitchen." Came my response.

"Dad, I need to ask -" I stopped short when I entered the kitchen and my parents came into view. "What's going on?"

My mother was sitting at the kitchen table, bent over in tears as my father squatted next to her, rubbing her back. I've never seen my mom cry, she's always so strong, happy occasionally angry or disappointed, but never crying like she was now. I didn't know what to think, she shouldn't be crying like this.

"Mom?" I was to scared to finish the question. She eventually looked up at me and she burst into more tears. I made my way over to her and she immediately embraced me.

"What'd I do? What's happening?"

"It's not you baby! I promise, I just -" She erupted into more tears and I thought my dad was going to rip something or someone apart with the look that was on his face.

"Honey, please, please tell me what's going on!?! Derrick, I haven't been able to get anything out of her! These tears are killing me!" My dad not knowing what was going on made me even more fearful, he always knows what's going on with mom because of her being his mate. You can always tell, always.

After a lot of blowing her nose, mom sat up and cleared her throat."I made a doctor's appointment because I wasn't feeling right."

When she didn't continue right away, dad got antsy, "Is everything ok?"

"Yes, yes. But we are going to have to fix a room for the new baby."

"What!?!" Dad and I exclaimed in unison. You see, I'm an only child because the doctors had told mom after she had me that her body couldn't handle the stress of carrying another child. That had devastated my parents because they had wanted tons of children. After our exclamation, I could see my dad's face contorting from a mix of feelings: love, fear, excitement, then back to fear. He was fearing for his mate's life.

"How far along are you? Is everything ok? Why haven't you said anything before now? Are you -" My dad started firing off questions.

"Stop!" Mom exclaimed as dad continued to ask questions. "One question at a time, but I will give you all the facts if you give me a moment to get something to drink."
