I groaned, laying out on the table in study hall room 5B.
"Come on! It's not that much work left to do!" Vanessa laughed throwing a sour gummy worm at me.
Our project is almost done. All we have to do is type all the words out and print them off. Some pictures, decorations and that's it. Honestly staying behind at school hasn't been all bad. Really it's been pretty cool. The projects kind of difficult because since the rumors have started, none of the kids want to be test studies. We figured it out though, basically asking family and going around our neighborhoods and asking the people around us. It would've been so fun do that part with her but there is no way in hell that was gonna happen. Her mom was watching her every move.
"I hope my mom realizes her coming to the school to pick me up, actually just makes me want to run away more" she laughed as she came over to me with a stack of papers.
"I bet. I met her once and jumped out of a window"
We both laughed.
"Okay cut these into titles and glue them down and I'll come help cut out the paragraphs just let me finish up." She said heading back to the computers.
Being around her feels like sunshine. She claims she's just a normal girl but she's so much more. Her energy is amazing. I put down the papers she handed me and walked over to where she was.
"Hey do you want me to cut it into any shapes or anything?"
I asked placing my hand very close to hers.
She raised an eyebrow "shapes Jamilla? I know you did not walk over here about shapes"
I blushed and chuckled. "Okay, you caught me.. the projects all the way over there and your all the way over here" I bit my lip.
Vanessa rolled her eyes and smiled. "It would be faster if we both take on a part, your gonna make us end up rushing."
"Well, I bought snacks... I thought maybe we could celebrate completing the project" I gave her my best smile.
Her smile was so sweet.
"Fine" she said closing her journal.
"Set the timer for 5 minutes. That's ALLLL. We have to finish this." She got up from her seat. Her denim skirt hugged her smooth shiny thighs nicely.
She noticed me looking and gave me a face. I turned quickly and opened up my bookbag taking out the goodies with one hand.
"Jamilla this is definitely more then 'snacks'" she laughed sitting in a chair for once.
I had her favorite chips. The crunchy Cheetos and some drinks from the vending machine, A sub cut in two halves that I bought from the cafe and I might have bought some fresh cookies too.... I mean they said food is the way to a woman's heart. Not that I'm trying to get in the way of her girlfriend... I just like to make her happy that's all.
I smiled and sat beside her.
"This was a great turn out. Worth celebrating" I said toasting with our soda bottles.
She smiled rolling her eyes. She's been doing that a lot lately.
"Ughhh I wish my hair would grow back faster" she wined as she picked up my phone looking at the camera. I'm only allowed to have it when we are trying to work on the project. If We didnt it need to use the internet I probably wouldn't see it for a month. My mom finally calmed down from the night I dislocated my shoulder, we talked it out and she's.... less angry with me now. But, as punishment she takes my phone as soon as I step foot in the house everyday. She is still mad at me though, it sucks because we were getting so close to being like how we were when dad was here. We were talking and laughing and eating together. Now when I get home she don't even try to get me to come down from my room. She hadn't even been cooking as much as usual. I have to make it up to her.
