A rather lean, jovial-looking man with messy silver hair and a lab coat stood behind Rachael, taking in the scene. "Rachael?" He slowly walked in front of her and upon seeing the grief in her face, he understood everything. He recognised the way she looked at the wounded drider all too well. "Oh my." She fell to her knees and embraced her unconscious partner.
"Ven?" Not knowing any medicinal sorcery or alchemy, all she could do was sit there, holding her. "Good thing I came." The man got out two pencils, dropped them on the floor and clapped seven times, rhythmically. Each pencil hovered over to one of the lycans and began drawing chains at super-speed, which sprung into animation upon completion and bound the lycan pieces to the ground to keep them chronologically suspended.
"Alright, let's see what we have here, shall we?" The man put on a large pair of glasses, then got out a second pair and slowly hovered them over the drider. "Lycan venom, of course. Oh, and she's still alive." He placed his hand on his chin as he examined. "Doesn't seem as though they were trying to kill her. And you can't turn a drider into a lycan. Maybe they... were experimenting?" Rachael's weeping turned to sobbing.
"Alright. Here's a little something for the lycan venom." The man put on a pair of green latex gloves then reached into his pocket for two glass tubes. One was empty and the other contained a bright blue liquid. He broke the empty tube and poured some drops of the blue liquid on a shard of the broken tube. He then gently pushed the dissolving glass shard into the side of the drider's neck. "Seaprus urine. Breaks down the LV molecules and bonds to them, converting them into a much more beneficial substance, one with extensive healing potential."
He then pulled out a note book. "Rachael." He placed his hand on the girl's shoulder, comfortingly. "I need you to step back for me so I can place her in the suspension cradle." Rachael slowly rose. "Come on. She'll be alright."
"...I know..." The man opened his notebook, faced it towards Ventris and closed it, making her vanish with the closing of the book. He then ripped out the sheet that now had a picture of a wounded drider on it and folded it into his smallest pocket. Rachael turned to face the lycans. "Rachael. I'll take care of them." She glared at them. "Rachael. I'll handle this. Go and stay with your friend." Rachael did as he said, sitting on the stains of Ventris' blood on the floor. The man brought out and unfolded the sheet, placed it on her head and brought his hand down atop her, then just as Ventris did, Rachael disappeared. He deactivated the chronological suspension chains. "What do the two o' you have to say for yourselves, eh? Making a little girl cry and that. Torturing her girlfriend and that. Making her faint and that. Utterly appalling. The two o' you aught to be well beyond ashamed of yourselves. Disgusted."
"What! We only did what y-"
"NOT ANOTHER WORD, FIENDS! I know a very nice place that'll accommodate heathens like you! Ever heard of... the section?" Both lycans' eyes widened at the mention of the place. "Yeh, that's what I thought."
"You bastard!"
"To be honest, I'd love to watch the both o' you get mauled, but you know. Doctor Professor stuff. Got patients to treat, drider to aid, crying apprentice to reassure. But I'll catch you two in the afterlife, yeh? So long as you go downstairs, if you know what I mean." "YOU BASTARD! YOU PROMISED US!" The pencils then drew a circle around each lycan, into which both fell as they became portals. "Well, that takes care of that.Back at the hospital, Ventris was already awake and talking meekly with Rachael, who was glued to her side. "Professor, I think she's still out of it. Says she wants t-"
"To cuddle with you as it'll help her get her strength back and heal quicker?"
"...Er... y-yeh... How did you...?"
"By the looks of her, I'd say her parents were probs arachnid and succubus... or incubus?"
"...Succubus..." said Ventris, softly.
"Ah. Arachnid dad, succubus mum. There's something that has actually never happened before."
"So..."
"I recommend cuddling, Rachael. Lots and lots of cuddling. Being part succubus, she gets reinvigorated and healed by prolonged physical contact with her host via physiocoitolation. So get cuddling. Get coitolating. Naked if you want. There's literally no one else here, besides me of course, and this hospital doesn't have cameras."Rachael looked at Ventris, who simply smiled at her. "Alright."
"Okie dokie. Call me if you need anything, Miss Drider, Rachael."
"Ventris. Her name's Ventris."
"Call me if you need anything, Ventris, Rachael. I'll be in the lab." As they both blinked, he was gone, just like that."Um... okay... I'll just... er..." She started to undress a bit, remaining in her underwear and bra. "I'll just er... lift the cover now."
"It's okay, I won't hurt you."
"Pff! Yeh, very afraid of you hurting me." She looked down upon the spider half and pondered. "Where exactly should I..."
"Anywhere. Don't worry, you're very light. And preferably between my arms."
"Okay." Rachael slowly climbed atop her and lay on her chest and drew the cover. "Do you want me to lay sideways or-" Eight arms embraced her before she finished speaking and held her tightly. "Okay." For while, they simply lay there in one another's embrace."Did you try to fight them?"
"Of course, but I'm not really much of a fighter at all."
"Oh... wait I thought you said you were infiltrating something a while back." Ventris chuckled.
"Yeah, kind of. But to be honest, not really. I was just backing up the infiltrator. I was the medic. Not even a field medic. I was a doctor that no longer had a base of operations nor hiding spot, so I had to accompany the combatant. I made a good-ish medic, but I was a non-combatant nonetheless."Rachael shook her head in amusement. "Infiltrators are the coolest. They move without a sound, completely unseen by enemies. And when they strike, the enemy is dead before they even realise that they aren't alone."
"Nerd."
"Hey, I'm cool too. I'm a doctor. If it weren't for my medical expertise, my comrades would've died."
"Nerd-uh."One of the hands on Rachael's stomach began moving about, scribbling lightly on her bare skin, making her start shifting about beneath the cover. "Oh, my God! At least heal fir-hir-st before you start this again!"
"You have a book on 'mythical creatures' and I'm the nerd?"
"Ey, it's a kill book."
"A kill book? Does it kill the reader with boredom?" Rachael was not amused.
"It's an encyclopedia that outlines the abilities and weaknesses of a large range of creatures, explaining how best to approach and to kill them."
"So you go around monster slaying?"
"Only monsters that want to slay me first."
"Uh huh... what about the ones that don't want to slay you?"
"I just stare at them, hoping they try to kill me so I can kill them without feeling bad, but they usually don't. And I don't go around provoking them if that's what you're slyly getting at." Ventris laughed.
"I'm feeling a lot better now."
"What was the deal with those lycans anyway?"
"They were the Territorial Twins, as they're known. They were the local bullies, they went around hunting mercilessly or just randomly asserting dominance. The sister was the alpha. Wait, when did you get there?"
"When you were unconscious." Her tone saddened. "I thought you were dead."
"I'm sorry." She held her tighter.
"How bad did they hurt you?"
"Not much. I passed out before they really got started anyway. I was... quite scared. How did you even find me? And what did you do once you got there? Did you fight them?"
"I searched, high and low. When I got there, I incapacitated them and was going to... hurt them a bit... then the Professor showed up and took care of you and them."
"You... incapacitated them?"
"Yeh."
"How?"
Rachael looked up into her eyes and said, "With a toothbrush."
