"There is nothing impossible to God"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When Rita was a young girl, she already had a close relationship with Jesus. When she was about a teenager she wanted to join a convent but her parents forced her to marry a man named Paolo Mancini. This man was as well known for being as violent as he was wealthy.. and he was very wealthy. Rita was abused often during their 18-year marriage. However, Rita prayed often to God to give her strength and courage
After many years God answered her prayer. Her husband, who was abusive, begged for forgiveness to Rita, which she gave to him. Unfortentually not long after this her husband was ambushed by his enemies and converted to Christianity before he died.
Rita was worried about her two teenage sons because she feared they would try to seek revenge by killing their father's murders. Rita, however, prayed to God to stop this. As Saint Rita.org puts it " As it happened, the death of both boys from natural causes a short time later removed them from physical and spiritual danger. Despite her great burden, she could still thank God that they had died in peace, free of the poison of murder to which hatred and revenge might have otherwise drawn them."
After this, she wanted to join a convent, yet some of the nuns in there were related to the men who had killed her husband. Because of this, she was denied. Luckily she prayed to three saints: John the Baptist, Augustine, and Nicholas of Tolentino. With the help of these saints, she was able to bring peace to her husband's family and her husband's murders' family, thus allowing her to join a convent
Rita often wondered about her sons and husband. When she was on her deathbed someone asked her what she would like from her hometown. She said she would like a rose from her parents' old garden. Now keep in mind, this was during the middle of January. However, the person did what Rita asked and was surprised to find a rose!
The person gave the rose to saint Rita who gave thanks to God because now she knew her sons and husband were in heaven. Saint Rita died a couple of months later on May 22, 1467, at the age of 77.
Holy Patroness of those in need, Saint Rita, so humble, pure and patient, whose pleadings with thy Divine Spouse are irresistible, obtain for me from thy Crucified Christ my request (mention it here). Be kind to me, for the greater glory of God, and I promise to honor thee and to sing thy praises forever.
Oh, glorious St. Rita, who didst miraculously participate in the sorrowful Passion of our Lord Jesus Christ, obtain for me the grace to suffer from resignation the troubles of this life and protect me in all my needs. Amen
