I hate the way you laugh

Her first year of college, she drifted through the halls like before. She felt a sense of deja vu, like the sunny boy she used to know was haunting her. She shook it off. She met Taehyung at a party. He introduced himself as V. She raised an eyebrow. She told him that she was also V. He smiled and laughed, slapping her lightly on the back.

He told her that they could be V together. She smiled lightly but didn't laugh back. His laughter felt like fairies. No. She didn't like his laugh, not one bit. He stayed with her though, despite her obvious dislike of him. He told her he felt like an alien. She lied and told him it meant that he was out of this world.

Well, it wasn't a lie per say. By the end of the year, he would be. And so she stayed with him, as he desperately tried to teach her how to dance. He'd laugh every time she fell, and the pangs in her chest reminded her of the reasons why she couldn't have happy things.

She imagined digging her knife into his chest, got up and kept moving. Almost there, almost there. She applied for a transfer in the middle of the year, accepted to go somewhere else. Somewhere where no one would know the girl with the violet eyes. A big city. The loudest cry she could make.

She told Taehyung that at the end of the semester, she would leave. "I'll come with you," he had said. She just laughed, sadistically, but not to his ears.

"You can't come with me, you'll be six feet under."

"In school?" She nodded, playing along. What was one white lie when he was going to die? Nothing, just one more pitch black stain. She actually liked V. "V is for vendetta," he told her. "I think you have a vendetta against everyone." She might have.

V seemed to be able to see right through her, laugh tearing her apart. She wanted to shut him up. So she would. She had him follow her to the roof, they wouldn't find him for several days. She grabbed a roll of tape and ripped it off. She playfully dangled it near him.

It was all a game, just a sick twisted game. She had him chase her, then she trapped him. Taped him to the wall, taped his mouth shut. It muffled his screams and the scarlet v she left over his heart in her wake.
