"FOX ATTACK!" shrieked marmalaid "fox attack! get to high hills!get to high hills! Hurry!"But marmalaids shrieks were drowned out by  the yowls of speed paw as he  tried to shake the fox of his back. Moon paw was frozen in place. "it happened so quickly. why couldn't we smell them?" moon paw thought. the ginger tom shrieked again and ripped the fox off. Then he ran to his sister who was battling three black foxes. moon paw raced outside to find marmalaid and fern paw surrounded by snarling balls of fury. The foxes snapped at there heels and flanks laughing with joy as the two cats stumbled over there own paws snapping and snarling and nipping thin air as they tumbled in confusion" they'll never make it" noticed moon paw with dread. Her tummy was twisting in to knots. " If i don't help them they'll be fox food by the time this battle is over" and with that moon paw leaped on to the  nearest fox snapping at its ears. it howled in fury and started to snap at moon paw but she was to quick for it. she left it fleeing in to the forest howling in pain and limping on its bloodied leg. speed paw and fire paw burst from the once fox filled cave. speed paws whiskers trembled with anger and fire paws wolf like eyes were red with rage.They battled for what seemed like moons until finally the foxes were driven off. " we did it!" cried fire paw pride filling her gaze. speed paw limped towards moon paw" please forgive us for acting so awfully in the den, moon paw. were just..... not fond of strangers around this part. the only other cats we find out here are clan cats and most of the time they chase us off" moon paw stared at the ground for a second wondering what to say. "i forgive you, i would of acted that way too if a random stranger showed up at my camp asking to join"speed paw gave a grateful nod and padded back in to the den. every thing was silent until the silence was broken by a sad mournful cry "marmalaid no! please don't leave me! i-i'll fix up your wound. you'll be better! and then you wont have to go! just please hang on! midnight paw is on his way with herbs"moon paw padded over to a meadow were the voice came from and found fern paw crouched beside a dark clump covered in blood. moon paw could just make out a torn ear and green eyes...." marmalaid! are you ok?!" fire paw and speed paw raced to there sister's side "what happened? where's midnight paw?" they asked "h-he went out t-to find herbs. the f-foxes got marmalaid i t-tried to save her b-but -but....."fern paw burst in to tears. moon paw padded up to marmalaid. Her fur brushed against the grass and the old cats breath came out in gasps "i'm so sorry" whispered moon paw "i c-could of saved you, and then you wouldn't have to go" marmalaid looked up at moon paw with fading eyes " You fought hard, and you should be proud of that. If it wasn't for you,both me and fern paw would be fox food. It was a brave thing to do to leap on that fox. You are truly a member of this group"moon paw dipped her head and took a step back so the others could share tongues with there beloved mentor for the last time in there lives. after midnight paw returned empty pawed marmalaid wanted to talk with all of them. Her breathing was now in ragged gasps and echoed through out the forest. her eyes were now a milky white and her flank barely lifted at all when she breathed."i love you all very much my apprentices.speed paw will be your new leader. let star clan watch over you on your journey to thunder clan" her breathing slowed "i love you all and i promise i'll look over you" she let out a sigh and her body went limp. her breathing slowed to a stop and her eyes seemed as white and motionless as fern paws "good bye marmalaid let star clan guide your paws"  they buried marmalaid under a mossy abandoned two leg den where marmalaid apparently loved to go and continued on there journey. by the time they got in to thunder clan territory moon paws legs throbbed with pain. "come on moon paw you just need to get through the bramble wall that surrounds there camp and then hey presto! your there.... wait why on earth are we going to thunder clan?" she thought. "hey midnight paw, why are we going to thunder clan again?"asked moon paw "because of the prophecy. it is said four cats born on the darkest night all five born to end the fight.A moon will come to bring the light. five cats on the darkest night. mabey 'the moon' is meant to be you. your name is moon paw so yeah. marmalaid said we should go to thunder clan first because there the ones who have to fight the most right now there fighting for there right to be called a clan and there fighting the most for there territory" suddenly fire paw meowed "where here" and she was right. in the center of the clan stood an orange tom most likely the leader. he was talking to his clan about a....... wait did he say prophecy"nows our time to shine" purred speed paw " ok we need to get in to the medicine den. medicine cats are the cats that know the most about prophecy's we'll ask him or her if  he or her can introduce us to the clan and-" "already ahead of you" purred fire paw as she slunk in to the medicine den "ok here we go" thought moon paw as she padded behind her friend "don't forget your manner's moon paw"
