First Bite

I had about 10 minutes before I have to be downstairs for school. At the moment, I was doing my final checks in the mirror to make sure everything looked alright.

You see, if you think that I wouldn't try to escape at school, you're wrong. It would be the perfect opportunity, so unless it was a full on vampire school I should have a chance.

I had hidden in one of my vest pockets a knife and my phone was tucked into my bra. Have to make sure that there are not any obvious lumps or bumps there. Once I was satisfied, I headed to the door and stopped right when I touched the door knob.

For some reason, I had the strange feeling that I would come into contact with a vampire once opened. Steeling myself and releasing a breath, I slowly opened it and poked my head out to see nothing. Just a long and empty hallway.

Having memorized the way to my room from the front door, I had an easy time finding everyone else that was gathered in the living room area.

Then we all silently walked towards this limo outside. When it came time to taking our seats, the vampires waited for Yui and I to walk in first... Did you know that the person who walks into a doorway last is declared the more dominant?

Well that detail didn't escape my notice. I let Yui walk in first and then I sat right next to her. Look, I don't particularly like her, but I'd rather have her next to me than another blood sucker. Haven't gotten bit yet and I'd like to keep it that way for as long as possible.

I was mildly surprised when Subaru sat next to me. Looking up at him, I noticed that he wasn't looking anywhere near me. Choosing instead to look out the window on his right.

Well that's just fine with me. In fact, once this limo started moving I realized that literally no one was moving or making eye contact. It was... unnerving.

Then I heard Kanato playing with his teddy bear in the other corner and I couldn't help but watch. I mean come on I was bored.

Then that's when he gripped the bear and glared at me, "What the hell are you staring at, huh?! Do you want me to kill you?!"

Oh hell no. Look I know I remember what Subaru told me, but...

"No not really. I quite enjoy my life. I was just interested in watching you play with your bear. Everyone else is being boring."

Yup I say it as I see it.

He gave me a blank look and then laughed and pointed at me. "Haha you're hilarious!" He kept giggling and started to kick his legs... I wasn't really that funny was I? And then the laughing stopped. "I'll make you hate your life here and you will be begging me to kill you."

I felt a chill run up my spine.

Then an unsteady laugh escaped my throat as I wished desperately to leave this motor vehicle.

I shut up after that until we arrived at the school.

I almost bolted towards the front door before a hand grabbed me harshly by the shoulder. It was Reiji.

Looking at me and adjusting his glasses with the index finger of his left hand while his right was currently squeezing me, he says "I don't really expect it of the other but for you on the other hand... I don't think I need to tell you the consequences if you cause any trouble or try to escape from school."

That's when the grip on his hand tightened a considerable amount and I almost winced. Glaring at him while maintaining eye contact I said, "Wouldn't dream of it."

The grip loosened and let go, "Glad we have come to an understanding."

Fuck I gotta get out of here.
