Goodbyes Aren't Forever

Over the break mum agreed to meeting me go to America so that I can spend Christmas with my brother. I feel bad for leaving her but she said that she is happy to spend time with Grandma.

My flight it tomorrow morning at 5am so we go to grandmas house and I say goodbye to her. I will be gone for 4 weeks so I make sure my goodbye counts. Grandmas very healthy and fit for her age so I'm not worried at all.

after a few hours Mum and I go back home and she helps me finish packing the rest of my things.
'Is that everything' she asks.
'I think so' I reply, looking around my room.
'Let's go through the checklist' mum says.
A long check list later I have everything packed and ready to go. I go to sleep at a reasonable time because I know I have to get up early in the morning.

*Beep beep beep*
I wake up to my alarm going off. I check the time and it's 3:30.
I set my alarm extra early just incase.
My plane boards at 6am so I have to be there by 5 and it takes me an hour to get to the airport which gives me half an hour spare.

We leave by quarter to 4 and we decide to stop and get breakfast. We go through the Hungry Jacks drive through. I just order a smoothy because I'll get food on the plane.

We get to the airport and mum comes right with me to the gate. We sit at my gate for and hour or so then the speaker announces that my flight is starting to board.

I hug mum and I say goodbye to her. She starts crying.
'Don't cry mum. It's only a month, I'll be back before you know it' I reassure her.
'I love you, be good' she tells me while still hugging me.
'I will. Look after Grandma'
'She'll be the one looking after me' mum says with a chuckle. I laugh as well.

We both pull away from the hug and I go get it line. Mum says one last goodbye as I walk through the gate and out of sight.
I told her not to stay but she insisted on watching me take off.  

The plane taxis for a while and then we take off. I get the window seat and I have a small kid sitting next to me, with no parent to be seen.
