There was smoke.

There was fire.

And there was screaming.

A car completely engulfed in fire was headed down a hill faster than the speed of light.

It zoomed faster and faster until it crashed through the guardrail and disappeared from view.
Moments later, the car was hauled out of the ocean and checked for bodies. And deep in the back seat, sat a young girl of around seven. Unconscious and limp. With burns all over her body and water clogged in her system; there was no hope.

The last thing the girl remembered was a pain too great to bear and a scream loud enough to scare away the devil.

"Miss Rosaline! Miss Rosaline!"

"Look! She's opening her eyes."

Rosaline groaned as she coughed up a mouthful of saltwater. Her eyes were burning and her throat, parched. She shifted her focus on what she saw was a face staring at her. Looking closer, she realized it was Mr. Hatake. He was squatting down on the sand beside her, her head in his lap. Mr. Hatake tilted Rosaline's head forward and poured cool water down her throat. She swallowed slowly, never taking her eyes off of him. When she was finished, she sat up, shivering.

"Kids, it's better if you'll give her some room. Miss Rosaline is fine now so go and enjoy. We'll join you when we're ready."

The students reluctantly nodded, slowly edging away from their art teacher and quietly going back to the water.

"Where's Sakura?" Rosaline managed to croak out, her throat still cracked and dry.

"She's fine," Mr. Hatake answered shortly. "Just a little dazed, is all."

Miss Rosaline found herself breathing a sigh of relief.

"That's good," she replied and the history teacher nodded.

Rosaline finally took a look around her. She was sitting on a towel on the hot sand, a bit farther away from the rest of the class. Some of the other chaperones were glancing in her direction, question, and concern plastered on their faces. Rosaline smiled and waved, showing them she was fine. They smiled back and returned to take care of the kids.

"You know, you don't have to pretend to be alright."

Rosaline glanced at the speaker, confused.

"I'm sorry, what did you say, Mr. Hatake?"

Mr. Hatake glanced up from his book he seemed to carry everywhere and repeated his remark.

"It's alright to be hurt sometimes and let others help you carry your pain," he added.

Rosaline gave a small laugh. "What's the point in that? It just gives other people another unnecessary burden to carry. Besides, what would change once they do? It's not as if they have some magic spell to heal it."

Realizing she went too far for such a simple remark, Rosaline immediately smiled and said, "Thank you for your concern, Mr. Hatake. I really appreciate it. Oh and I'm under the assumption that you saved me from the ocean also. Thank you."

Rosaline struggled to get up, taking a step forward. A sudden wave of dizziness washed over her as she stumbled over herself. In a flash, Mr. Hatake was there to catch her, though Rosaline would never understand how he was so quick.

"T-thanks," Rosaline said weakly.

Carefully, he laid her back down on the towel and helped her sip a bit more water.

Before he left, he covered her with his towel and whispered into her ear, "Some people don't mind the extra burden especially if it's to help out a friend."
