Chapter 2: Meeting Her

 It was the next day, Richard had gone to a hotel in Willmar the night before and Alyssa had slept at a park. It was around 9:00 am when Alyssa woke up and 11:00 am when Richard woke up. Richard had happened to stay at the hotel for the day while he planned out what he would do with his life while Alyssa did the same at the park. At 12:00 pm Kaden had asked his mom if he could walk to a park near his house which he had frequently gone to and she said yes so he had gotten his coat on and walked there. He had put on a playlist of music (mostly Melanie Martinez ). It was a short walk so he was there within 15 minutes. When he arrived he saw a girl around his age. He was surprised because this park was almost always empty, especially during the wintertime. She looked oddly familiar to him but he didn't know why. When he got closer he saw noticed who she looked like. she looked like Alyssa Bustamante. What the heck he thought. Is that her? he asked himself in his head. No, it can't be, he thought. He realized he was staring and he snapped out of it and went to swing on the swingset near the bench she was sitting at. "Hey," She said to him when he sat on the swing. "Oh um hi," he said awkwardly. She giggled at his awkwardness. "I'm A...." she stopped. Crap I can't use my real name she thought. She started again "I'm Alice". "Oh that's cool, I'm Kaden," Kaden responded. "Oh that's a cool name, I've never met a Kaden before." She responds. "oh thanks," he says as he smiles. Alyssa then asks Kaden "How old are you?". "I'm 14. How about you?" he asks back. "I'm 15" she answers. "Cool," he says. Alyssa (or "Alice" to Kaden)then sit on the swing next to Kaden, somewhat catching him by surprise. The 2 continue talking and after a while, Kaden tells her "I know this is gonna sound crazy but you look like a murder named Alyssa Bustamante and to be honest for a split second I thought you were her.". This surprises her oh crap he knows who I am she thinks. Oh wow, I've never been told that." She lies and fakes a laugh. "wow you should look her up sometime, you look almost identical to her" he says. The two continue to talk and then end up on the topic of school. "so what school do you go to?" Kaden asks her. "well my life is complicated, my parents abandoned me when I was and I lived in Missouri and I couldn't find a place to live and I basically lived on the streets for 5 years so I took a bus to Minnesota yesterday and I ended up here in Willmar. So basically I don't go to a school yet." She makes up a fake story. Kaden is surprised and feels bad. "dang that's really sad," Kaden says. "You should go to dream!" Kaden adds excitedly. "It's my school and instead of doing boring schoolwork, you get to do projects about literally anything." He says. "Okay, sounds fun". She says with a smile. "Hey so do you want to spend the night at my house tonight? We can fill out your dream application. "Oh my god, that sounds fun!" She says excitedly. "Yeah, it does!" Kaden responds excited aswell and takes out his phone. He texts his mom "Hey mom, can my friend Alice spend the night?". "Yeah as long as you pick up after yourselves". He texts back. "Yay!". Kaden tells her and they excitedly walk back to Kadens house.
