Chapter Eight

PSA: These are characters. I have nothing against any of the people I write about. Their characters don't portray how they are in real life at all.

After lunch, I went to my third period class, Biology. I didn't have any friends in that class, so I was planning on just staying out of everyone's way. When I got into the classroom, I sat down in the back. A few minutes after the bell rang, a girl walked in.

"Sorry I'm late." She apologized.

"It's fine, sit down." The teacher responded. She made her way to the back of the class and sat in the desk next to mine.

"Hey, I'm Ava." She introduces herself.

"Hi. I'm Tara." I really didn't wanna talk to anyone, but I might aswell make new friends besides Mattia's group. I didn't wanna be alone just in case something happened between us.

"Are you new?" She asks.

"Yeah, I am." I respond.

"Can you guys shut up?" A voice from in front of us says.

"Shut up Joseph," says Ava. He turns around.

"Who's this cutie?" He asks.

"Tara. Stay away from her." Ava responds. Ava, Joseph and I basically talked the whole class. They were really nice. The people here were so much more welcoming than at my previous school. Joseph walked me back to my locker after the class ended since his locker was down the hall. Once I got to my locker, I saw Mattia standing there.

"Bye, see you tomorrow." Joseph said as he walked away.

"Why were you walking with him?" Mattia said. Was he jealous?

"I met him in my science class. He's my friend, why?"

"He's an asshole, stay away from him."

"Can't be much more of an asshole than Alejandro." I joke, laughing.

"Alejandro isn't an asshole."

"Okay Mattia. Let's just go to class." I could tell Mattia was jealous. He also got extremely defensive when I called Alejandro an asshole. They were probably really close. Mattia must have had something against Joseph though, I just needed to find out what it was. On our way to class, we stop at Alejandro's locker. I didn't say anything. Alejandro seemed so self concieted, I had no idea how Mattia was friends with him. Mattia may have been an asshole sometimes, but Alejandro was on a completely different level. We all walk to our class together. Whenever I looked at Alejandro, he was either looking at me or looking at some random girls' ass. Once we got to class, I sat next to Mattia, and Alejandro sat in front of me.

"The teacher for this class is so hot, right Mattia?" Alejandro asks. I roll my eyes.

"Shut up, Ale." Mattia snapped back. I knew the only reason Mattia didn't say anything was because I was there. I knew he would probably agree with Alejandro if I wasn't.

"All I'm saying is that this is gonna be a good semester if we got two hot girls in this class." Alejandro says, looking at me.

"Alejandro, shut the fuck up for once, okay?" Mattia says, getting defensive.

"Aight, sorry. Tara, what's your snap?"

"It's-" I say as Mattia cuts me off.

"None of your business." Mattia was extremely protective over me. It was almost like he didn't trust me. I would never do anything with Alejandro. I couldn't deal with his inflated ego. After class, Mattia walks me back to my locker, then kisses me goodbye. "We should hangout tomorrow, baby."

"Yeah, I'll see if I can come over." I respond.

"Oh, I was thinking we could maybe go out, y'know, for dinner?"

"Sure, that sounds really nice."

"Okay, text me" He says as he walks away. He was so perfect. Kairi walks up to his locker.

"Tara." He says. I turn my head towards him.

"Yeah?" I say. It was weird. Kairi never actually had a normal conversation with me, so I was shocked he was talking to me.

"Mattia really likes you." He responds.

"Really?"

"Yeah. He has literally only talked about you for the past two weeks." Kairi saying this made me feel really good. I really liked Mattia too, so I'm happy he liked me as much as I liked him. "So, don't cheat on him like his last girlfriend did." I would never cheat on Mattia. I couldn't. I don't know how anyone could. He was so perfect, and I wouldn't choose anyone else over him.

"Who cheated on him?" I ask, curious.

"Some girl named Ava. She cheated on Mattia with Alejandro. It broke his heart."

"Why is Mattia still friends with Alejandro then?"

"They've been friends since they were little."

"I knew Alejandro was an asshole."

"Don't say that in front of him. Him and Alejandro are the two closest people on earth." Fuck. I knew Alejandro was bad but he really stooped this low? Fuck Alejandro. He's an asshole. I just needed to find some way to break up their friendship. This may sound like I'm being a shitty girlfriend by breaking up a friendship but I couldn't let Mattia be friends with someone this toxic. This was fucked up. I just really hoped this wasn't the Ava I met.

"Hey." I heard Ava's voice from behind me. Shit. "Listen, there's a party tomorrow night, wanna come?"

"She's not interested," Kairi says, "she has a date." He walks away.

"A date? With who?" She asks.

"My boyfriend."

"Who?" She insists.

"His name is Mattia."

"Oh. Okay, well, see you tomorrow" She said as her face got extremely red and she sprinted away. I knew she was the girl who cheated on Mattia. Especially after the way Kairi snapped at her. It's only my first day and hell is already breaking loose.
