I couldn't take it anymore. The thought of Alejandro made me uneasy. I already had so much to deal with, and he was just making everything worse. The only person I felt like I could trust hated me. I felt so lost.
While walking to my homeroom, I bumped into Mattia.
"Oh, sorry," I said.
"Don't worry about it." He responded, looking down at me and smiling. As much as I wanted to avoid Mattia, I wanted to be with him so much more.
I started to walk away, but before I could he stopped me, "Can we talk at lunch?" He asked.
"I'm already doing something, sorry." I declined, walking away. I already had other things to deal with, and Mattia would just add to the stress.
When I walked into my homeroom, I saw Ava and Joseph sitting next to each other, talking. My heart immediately started racing. I knew that I needed to talk to Joseph, but I didn't want to deal with Ava.
"Hey, Joseph, can we talk at lunch?" I asked.
"Uh, I'm already doing something. Sorry." He responded, immediately turning back around to Ava. Great, now Joseph won't even talk to me. I felt like my world was crashing down. I walked towards the front of the class to sit in the only empty seat.
After the bell rang, I went to my locker. Kairi was standing at his, talking to Mattia. I attempted to ignore them, but it didn't work.
"Hey, wanna walk to second period with us?" Kairi asked. I turned around to see them both staring at me, waiting for my response.
"Uh, sure, just let me grab my books," I responded. I grabbed my books and Mattia took them out of my hand.
"Here, I'll take them for you." He said, making me fall in love with him all over again. He was so sweet, unlike any guy I've ever met before. He looked into my eyes, smiling, and I smiled back. It was almost like we were dating again, and it made me remember how much I missed being with him.
When we got to our class, Mattia sat next to me at the back of the class.
"So, what are you doing at lunch?" He asked me.
"Oh, uh, nothing," I responded.
"I thought you said you were busy?" He questioned me. Fuck. I didn't know what to say. I was gonna talk to Joseph, but now I wasn't.
"I just have something to deal with," I responded. I guess if I couldn't talk to Joseph, I had to deal with something even more dreadful. Alejandro.
"Oh, is everything okay?"
"Yeah, everything is fine." I took out my phone and unblocked Alejandro's number.
"so, what do you want?" I texted him. I didn't want to deal with him, but I felt like I had no choice.
"Just meet me at your locker when the bell rings. It's important." He responded almost immediately. I was anxious, thinking of what he wanted to talk about, but I knew he wouldn't leave me alone until we talked.
After class, I walked back to my locker with Mattia and Kairi.
"What the fuck?" Kairi said.
"What?" I said, turning my head around to where Kairi was looking. It was at Alejandro, standing at my locker. Shit.
"What is he doing at your locker again?" Kairi asked me.
"I'll deal with it," Mattia said before I could say anything. He started to walk towards Alejandro. "What the fuck are you doing here?" He said, pushing Alejandro against the lockers.
"Chill, I'm here to talk to Tara." He said, grinning.
"Why the fuck are you talking to my girl?" Mattia raised his voice. I zoned out, just thinking about what Mattia just called me. "My girl." It made me happy, but that quickly changed.
"Yo, she texted me. Calm the fuck down." Alejandro said, breaking from Mattia's grasp. Mattia turned to me.
"Is that true?" He looked me in the eyes, except this time it wasn't with a smile. It was with pure anger.
"Yeah," I responded. I knew immediately after I said that, that I broke his heart.
"Perfect." He walked away.
"Not cool." Kairi turned to me and started to follow Mattia. I felt awful, but nothing could prepare me for what Alejandro had to say.
"Looks like it's just us," He turned to me with the same grin he gave Mattia when he got pushed against the locker, "again." He laughed.
"Fuck you," I responded. "What do you wanna talk about?"
"We can't talk about it here. Follow me." All the pity I had for Alejandro went away and suddenly turned into rage. I knew what he had to say wouldn't be good, because it never is. I followed him outside, to his car. "Get in." I rolled my eyes, getting in the car.
"I need your help." He started.
"No? Why the fuck would I help you?" I scoffed.
"Because if you help me, I'll help you."
"What the fuck are you talking about?" It took me a few seconds to realize what he meant, and when I realized it, my heart dropped.
