Departure day... it's time to go.
A taxi came to pick us up right after Jimin left the house. The driver was patient enough to wait my oldest son to come back.
All our stuff is packed and our plane leaves in six hours. I hate being late so we have to leave very quickly.
I begin to feel really nervous when I see Jimin has left the house for more than twenty minutes. He's probably on his way but I can't help but worry.
Jungkook prepares to leave too. He's  been arranging his seat in the car for a while. He took a neck pillow an his Nintendo Switch with him. He also laid his blanket on his seat. All his food was in his bag and he took a bottle of water with him.
He almost forgot his passport, thank God I reminded him to take it. Strangely, he looks excited to go. I thought he wasn't too ecstatic about the idea of leaving his comfy net.
I just hope they will be as happy in Paris as they were here.

We finished preparing the car when I saw Jimin at the end of the road. He seemed sad, which is understandable. When he came closer to me, I could see his conflicted mind just by looking into his eyes.
He was smiling but I could see the dried out tears, his still puffy eyes and his red cheeks. But he wasn't smiling to tell me "Everything is okay, don't worry about it" it was a genuine smile, he seemed happy. And sad at the same time. I didn't ask about it, thinking he'd need time to actually feel comfortable telling me.

Jimin takes his stuff and places them in the car, next to Jungkook's. When he's ready, I take the keys, close the door and say goodbye to my little house.
I get in the car and the driver started driving. Not a word was spoken. Nobody wanted to talk and nobody was in the mood to listen to anyone.
Jungkook was playing Mario Kart and Jimin was staring out the window, listening to, I imagine, nostalgic songs.

We drove past the café where Namjoon and I used to see each other. I feel like crying. He didn't text me... in three days.
Maybe he forgot.
He might as well text me a bit later.
However, I decide to stop and pick up a caramel macchiato before moving on.

Two hours after leaving the house, we stopped for lunch. We are at a Burger King and the atmosphere loosened up a bit. Jungkook, happy to leave for a while, was smiling a lot and that just put a smile on my face. He talked about Paris and how he always wanted to visit that city. He began to wonder how tall the Eiffel Tower really was. He wanted to see all these people with berets and striped black and white shirts walking around the Champs Élysées, even though this cliché probably isn't true, the old prison in Bastille and see the sunset over the Seine... And oh God how he wanted to learn French to impress his friends at school.
Jimin, on the other hand, didn't seem too ecstatic but didn't mind doing all these things with his brother. They started listing the only French words they knew, and it didn't last as long as they thought it would... When I received a text.
Oh my God is it Namjoo- oh it's Taehyung.

Tae: Hyung, you sure you can't take me with you ? You know how much I'd love to go to Paris... I'd take lots of pictures for my blog. I'd even take pictures of you ! Pleaseeee, I'll pay you. How much ? Tell me.

Me: Tae, first off calm down.
Me: And second of all, I can't... it's not a vacation... I'm sorry I'd love to take you with us... Maybe you could join us later on... it'd be soooooo great to see a familiar face.

Oh my... what a drama queen... If I could take people with me, I would. But seeing how busy my schedule is, I won't even have time to see my friends that much. So what's be the point ?

After we finished lunch, I drove to our last stop. The airport.
It's finally actually clicking. Damn, I'm actually leaving. It didn't seem real until right now. As I see all these people rushing, their baggage to their hand and the big airport right before me, I finally realized my life is really not going to be the same.
The plane takes off at 6 p.m. so we still have two more hours. We do all the check ups, leave our bags and can finally wander around the airport.
At 5.45, we could get in the plane. This feels too real to me, oh God...

There was a 30 minute delay before the plane rolled over to the take off pist. It flew off a bit later and there we were, in the air, on our way to our first stop, Pekin.

We had to take three planes before arriving in Dusseldorf in Germany, we had about 13 hours of flights. In Germany, a driver will take us and take us to our appartement in the outskirts of Paris, at about a ten minute walk from the company's new building.
After the 13 hour flights, we came across our designated driver. His name was Eric, he leaded us to his black car with my company's logo on it. It was pretty big. Eric was French and didn't speak a word of Korean. We communated with our little knowledge of English. Still, he was very open and friendly. We managed to talk a bit about random things.

imin and Jungkook, in the back were talking to each other. However, they slept for most of the 4 hour drive. I was left with the foreign driver and I didn't quite know what to talk about, he told me I could sleep peacefully and he wouldn't consider it awkward, so I did.

Thankfully, he woke all of us up when we were on the A1 highway. He left the highway since we were getting close to Paris and he wanted us to discover the city while still in the car. The night had fallen on the city, every café, every appartment and every road were orned by dimmed lights. It was beautiful. From the other side of the river, through the trees dropping their golden liefs on the floor, we could see the Eiffel tower reflecting its light on the Seine. It was a beautiful view. My children, amazed by the view, couldn't say a word. And, frankly, I couldn't either.

Eric brought us out of the historic center. On the way, we could see the Arc of Triumph, also lightened up, the roads we passed were also lit up because it was Christmas in only two weeks. There was a lot of traffic though, which was pretty surprising because it was very late.

Before we knew it, Eric stopped. "Here... Key, take it. 25" He said as he handed me the keys and gestured the numbers 2 and 5 to me. I took them and we took our bags from the trunk, Eric helped us get everything up the stairs, since the elevator was broken. Eric told me my new car will be in front of the building the next morning, and then left.

We kept the surprise to ourselves, we only opened the door when we were ready. And oh, God, was I disappointed. It wasn't as big as I thought it would be, normally it wouldn't be a problem but, there only was a small living space and a small kitchen. The dining room was big enough for the three of us, but not for more. There was one small bathroom in the entrance and, to my surprise, there only were two bedrooms, for a total of two beds, I could just sleep on the couch but still, they promised to give us three bedrooms. At least, there was a balcony, a small one but still.

This appartment is so different from our house back in Korea, I don't know if I will be able to get used to this. And I'm worried the kids won't either. Their eyes, that were full of stars and hope minutes ago, weren't as radiant anymore.

Oh how I wish I could see stars in their eyes right now...
