*Mikaelah's POV*

After a long day of shopping, Cassidy and I exit the mall into a cloud of fog that has enveloped our small town.

"Cass, are you sure it's safe to drive home in this? It's a pretty long way" I question, but I already know her answer.

"Of course it is. I mean it's just a little fog, I've driven in worse." She assures me.

This is how it is every single time. I worry about everything, but Cassidy does what she wants without even thinking about it. Sure, nothing's happened to us yet, but that doesn't mean it never will. Despite my skepticism, I know she isn't planning on changing her mind any time soon so I open the passenger's side door of our grey Honda Civic and step in. When I look out the window again I can barely see the mall we just stepped out of and I begin to worry even more. I decide to question her a little more in hopes that she realizes the risk she's putting us in.

"Cassidy I'm serious, I don't think this is safe. Maybe we should just stay in the mall until the fog clears up," I protest, but instead of a response all I get is an eye roll as my sister starts the car.

"Cass this isn't funny, I can barely see anything!" I exclaim, desperately trying to change her mind, but she's made her decision and she's sticking to it.

"Mikaelah, you're over reacting," is the only response I get.

We continue to bicker the rest of the car ride about who has the more logical mindset, my questioning everything or her not having a care in the world. Slowly the friendly debate becomes worse and worse, talking turning to yelling, all of it nonsense. It's all meaningless until the last words I hear come out of her mouth.

"You know what Mikaelah, sometimes I really hate you!" My sister screams.

That's when I see the car in front of us, but it's too late. I hear a crash and feel my breath knocked out of me, and then it all goes black.
