The Day After

We talked. We talked a lot. And danced. We danced until the sun came up. It was perfect. Drew was nothing compared to this guy, whose name I still don't know. Okay but why am I in his bed? I panic. What the hell? I don't remember this. I try my best to remember why I am here. Luckily he's still asleep so I slip on my clothes. My jeans are stained with Cranberry Daiquiri, at least I hope that's what it is. Just as I am about to put my jumper back on, he rolls over.
"Hey beautiful."
"Okay but I need to leave I-"
"I don't even know your name."
I look at him, with a smile.
"Ryan, Ryan Smith. How about you?"
"Richard Owen, but everyone calls me Ricky."
"Cute" I respond.
He looks up at me and laughs. That laugh, it's so pretty.
"Stay, stay a little bit longer. I'll drop you off home if you don't want to stay over again..."
I wanted to go home but it's almost like he's telling me I have to stay. I lay back down with him in the most comfortable, white sheets I've ever slept in.
"So tell me, what actually happened last night?"

We had been laughing for quite a while, he even made me breakfast for the headache I had from last night. It seemed he had a hangover too but he didn't care. He had me.
"Omelette. Secret recipe. Works all the time!"
It did work, but I had to ask more about this guy. He was gorgeous, but who actually was he?
"So where do you work?"
"I work in a bookstore downtown, Heavens Books."
"Hey I used to go there when I moved here. I was a bookworm."
"I knew you had an accent. English huh?"
"Very much."
I ramble on about my life, my dad, Charlie.
"Don't worry, I ran away from home. They hated me, both my parents and my siblings. It wasn't right there, I knew I had to be as far away from them as possible."
"Wait so where are you from?"
"Paris."
"French men are the most romantic right?" I say with a grin.
"If you say so."
He pulls me in by my jumper and we share the most amazing kiss. His lips are just to die for, and it seems so are mine. We stay there, my mouth on his, for at least 15 minutes straight. It just doesn't get boring. Ricky is to die for and I've never loved as much as I have loved him in this moment.

"So, what do you do in your spare time?" I ask spontaneously.
"I'm quite athletic so I run, but I read also. Just keeping fit is how I get by, what about you?"
"I enjoy the streets of New York, shop, read, run."
We were just perfect for each other. Everything fits for us. I can't believe this man is who I have fallen for. I swear if it wasn't for Drew I would have never met him. I thank him for that.
We spend the day in bed, watching Netflix. Binge watching season 1 of Friends to be precise. I looked up at Ricky, smiling.
"What are you smiling at?"
He runs his hands through my hair which honestly just makes me the happiest person alive.
"You."
He smiles back.
"So.. Did you decide about tonight?"
"I think it would be illegal not to stay here right now would it?"
He grins and we share another, long, perfect kiss. My heart beats with love. I run my hands up his spine, bringing them towards his chest. He pulls away.
"What's wrong?"
"Not yet..."

I smile, wondering what to do. Well, this is awkward. I try to get out of bed but I feel his hand on my shoulder.
"We should take this somewhere else."
We smile and he takes me toward the bathroom where he turns the shower on. Before we know it, our hands are running down each other's spines feeling every inch of the bone. It was just beautiful. He pushes me up against the shower wall and whispers,
"This is heaven."
This just makes me long for more. This man is just my type. Love at first sight is real I guess. Afterwards, we lay down together in his bed. Our hearts beat uncontrollably and every time we look at each other, it's so pure. I've never rushed into things this fast, but Ricky is worth it. Ricky is who I want to be with.
"You're so good, you know that?"
"I know."
We laugh and he holds me. He holds me so much that my heart wants to burst.
"I'm so blessed." I say smiling so much.
"We're so good, I really am lost for words."
