PRESCRIPTIONS 1 & 2

1

May he labor as hard as he likes

For gold is water and yet is none

Its own water does not remain with it

For if gold is sown into its own field

Its grows and multiplies itself

Where this water can be found is kept

It is hardest to fetch from Arabia

2

Use some fire of salt

Set it closed to digest

Distill the spirit of wine to half

Pour those off as they are good for nothing

Thereafter set it in ashes or sand

But if a pearl is thus dissolved

It can no longer be bought to body

PRESCRIPTIONS 3 & 4

Bury it again in the greatest heat

On a gentle charcoal fire

Thickened with filings of iron

If disease be cold, acute or gross

Your furnace must stand under a chimney

Because it consist of antimony

A tinging powder upon brick

So fused it can no longer mix
