Piper's POV

I stood on the porch of the big house. The metal box in my hand. I went back to the pavilion to get it after everyone had left, I stole it from Chiron's office early when I went to see him. Inside was a picture of the camps heros including Percy,Annabeth, Jason,Me, Nico, Bianca, Grover and Tyson. It was probably my only proof that Percy was real. I needed answers and Chiron was the only other person who knows the truth and might be willing to tell me something.

I was about to knock on Chiron's door when I heard a crash and bolted inside. I immediately had to duck as thanks to my great reflexes the arrow missed and embedded itself in door just where my head had been a few seconds ago.

Chiron stood across the room in centaur form. He held a wooden bow in his shaking hands, the floor was littered with arrows, papers, broken glass and CDs where a table was nocked over. That must've been what made the crashing sound.

"Chiron..? Where are you going?" I asked, seeing the duffle bag on the floor beside him. ''Are you leaving camp?"

He slowly lowered the bow but his hands were still shaking. I've never seen him like this before. He was always strong and confident, always the one the one people depended on. But the person before me was nothing like that ,his shoulders were hunched, his hair was very messy, his eyes darted nervously around the room and he was shivering even though it wasn't cold. He was terrified. But of what?

"Piper," he said, or more like sighed. "My apologies. I thought you were..." He glanced behind me at the open door, swallowed. "Nevermind," he said, running a hand down his face.

"Who did you think it was?" I asked staring nervously into the dark, freaking out now. Was I followed?

"Chiron what happened on Olympus?" I asked, closing the door behind me.

He sighed again, rumaging through the things he'd knocked over. "I believe I am no longer wanted here"

"What's that supposed to mean? Is it because of Percy?"

He nodded as he gathered the arrows, checking the points. "I made a pact with the gods a long time ago. They spared my life so that in return I could train heroes for them. Basically I was to live as long as I was needed. And I fear.. I fear I am no longer needed."

"But they can't... we need you."

He rested a hand on my shoulder and smiled though it didn't quite reach his eyes. "I'm not afraid of dying, Piper. Monsters reform. The same can not be said for demigods."

"You mean me? Why would olympus want to kill me?"

"Not you- or atleast not just you. I'm afraid the campers know too much, the gods will have to intervene. But if you truly are immune to the potions, I fear your life may be in great danger"

"They're afraid aren't they? That's why they took my memories, hid the truth."

"There are those that are wary of Percy's return so I would advise you not show that to anyone" he said pointing at the metal box in my hand. "There is a reason why I hid it."

"And by the way,'' chiron said, pulling the duffle bag on to his shoulder,"the gods did not take your memories. Your mother did"

I was about to asked what he meant when suddenly the door burst open revealing a frightened Emma, bent from exhaustion and leaning against an equally tired Selina for support.

Chiron cursed in latin, setting down his bow again. I never even saw him lift it, much less notch an arrow. Yet there it was, gleaming bronze. Luckily, he hadn't fired this time.
