The birds were chirping outside, Lucine awoke slowly, a heavy warmth on top of her as she lay curled up on the ground.

Owen rested with his cheek on her shoulder his arms laced around Lucine, she could see locks of his hair falling over into her line of sight.

Lucine stayed still, she listened to and felt his steady breathing. Her mind took her back to the night before,  what Owen did to Mac, she could see Mac's insides hanging out.

She could also remember Owen coming to help her. "He chased Mac down because he broke the pack rules." She thought.

Owen winced in his sleep and shifted his injured leg a bit, giving Lucine a slight squeeze. "But whatever the case, he still helped. Rover sometimes said that's all that counts." Lucine thought.

Carefully she crawled out from under Owen, though it was hard getting free from his grasp.

"Fang." He murmured, groggily waking. He lifted himself away from her and sat up, leaning against the wall. Lucine remained silent and moved to his leg, checking the injury.

Owen watched her intently as she examined his leg with a light touch. "We need to get you back, get this cleaned. But it's nothing too bad." Lucine murmured.

"Why'd you run?" Owen asked.

Lucine tore her pants leg and started to wrap the wound. She didn't answer him, and she could feel his gaze. Owen waited in silence for her answer, but Lucine hadn't an answer for him.

"We should head back," she said getting to her feet.

Holding out her hand she helped Owen to stand, letting him support his weight on her shoulders. "We need to find you a new shirt," she murmured, plucking at the torn fabric.

With a tilt of his head, Owen peered down at her "Why'd you run?" He repeated.

Lucine sighed, "Don't ask questions you don't really want answers to." She said starting to walk. "Now focus, I need you to navigate us back,"  she said. Owen frowned but followed. It was nearly impossible to ignore the hole He was trying to burn into the back of her head with his gaze.

Lucine sighed inwardly. "Don't give in, he can't push you around like the others. He can't." she thought to herself.

"It had to be done," Owen finally spoke up, he'd hoped it would get her to say something or look back at him. He wasn't entirely sure why her opinion, whatever it might have been,  had become a concern of his. Owen didn't like it, and then part of him did, the change of pace was interesting.

"Nothing has to be done. You didn't have to chase Mac, you didn't have to cut him up the way you did. You chose to do that." Lucine stated dryly.

Owen tilted his head, "No choice. Had we let him go he would have come back for you, killed some of us." Owen reasoned.

"Or he could have realized that he didn't stand a chance against you, Silver and Axel, hell the whole pack, and kept running, far away. You could have knocked him out - you're fast he's slow. You could have let him calm down and then let me reason with him. There are an infinite amount of ways that could have gone." Lucine ranted on.
