I ran. I had to get out of there. I snuck out the door and thank God there were no guards out there either. I snuck out the building and around, watching to see anyone in the gray Akmondeza uniforms. I didn't see anything. They would stand out with all the outrageous pageantry. So many people and colors! Women wearing tall heels with long hot pink dresses. Men wearing freshly ironed black suits, other women wearing jeans with massive holes in them, children wearing t-shirts with multiple colors swirled all around them. It was amazing and that wasn't even half of it! The buildings were even more extravagant than the outfits. Tall metal buildings completely covered in glass. The sun reflecting off of them, almost blinding. And the streets were so... clean. I had never seen a town more beautiful. Well, I hadn't ever seen any other town than Akmondeza.
Oh right. I had to getaway. I went to a local store called Piagette's and looked through the dumpster in the back. I found some multi-colored t-shirts and some blue jeans. I put them on. They were a little uncomfortable at first, tighter than clothes I was used to wearing. I then found an elastic on the ground and tied my hair back. My piercings helped me blend in well with all the crazy fashion styles of this new city.
For those of you that might be wondering what it is I realized, that is coming soon...
I went to the city hall of this town to find it was called Norquelle. I talked to someone about looking through building records, and a lady gave me a list of buildings on Juniper Street. That was the street sign I saw by the brick building.
I looked through the plans and recognized all the buildings next to it, but I didn't see that small brick building. My suspicions were beginning to rise. I asked the lady if I could see the citizen records of Norquelle from last year. I looked through them to find the names of last year's raffle winners. None of them were listed. This lead me to one, obvious, conclusion. The raffle was to prevent overpopulation in Akmondeza, but it wasn't to give people a new life. They would take them to this unregistered building in Norquelle and kill them in that little white room. That is where the rivers of red lead.
