Shadows

                She was a little ball of chaos. Walking down the street, she emanated it like one would confidence, or calm. Jumping at harsh noises and hurrying past shadows, she appeared a weak person. However, she did not care. She was safe that way.

                I watched from afar, looking in on her, exulting in her brief flashes of panic and constant pain. I fed from her emotions, drinking them in; enjoying it like a collector would fine wine. Grinning, I considered breaking her more, making her more desirable.

                She paused, feeling a gaze pierce her carefully constructed world of peace. Shuddering, she sped up, eager to get away from the danger.
