The Kingdom of Boquieva, a kingdom that thrives in the southern reaches of Zyxcsal. Equality amongst peasants and nobles were one of the greatest trademarks of the kingdom along with its number of heritage sites for travelers.
Equality it is, but not for all, even a few nobles still think of peasants as average human beings, though one can say the non-human kind are treated far worse. Ever since the mass exodus from the continent of Extraria, the kingdom near the edge of the landing place started to show consideration and helped shelter the non-human refugees. Although the 2 kingdoms near the coastal lines accepted the inhabitants of the south-west continent, some of the refugees are still skeptical. Some went on to decline the shelter offered by Boquieva and Taial. The reason unknown. Maybe the non-humans saw the kingdoms kindness as a facade of sorts, and the true intention lies in their conquest for military power.
We do not know however, if it is out of kindness, or worse, a hidden agenda...
A few days after the mass exodus, the people of Boquieva grew weary of all the new faces that the kingdom now houses. The law that King Ruddrick implemented after he took the refugees in was all but forgotten. Only the dwarves and the elves seem to hold the law in high regards.
A number of the human citizens follow the law, while most of them treat the dwarves and elves as if they have herpes or some kind of disease. Few of them reported the racist incidents to the city guards but only a handful of the reports were actually taken into consideration.
New Era, Year 982
City of Elyean
A tall man walks the streets covered in a thick black coat. He walks at a steady pace and observes the wares of the various merchants in the Merchandise Quarter of the city.
The famous Mayon Brahns inn, inside Elyean, the capital of Boquieva. Known for its luxurious food and top quality wine at a reasonable price, attracted merchants and travelers of all sorts from the various towns housed by the kingdom. The glamorous nobles entering the inn catches the attention of the tall man.
"Too many nobles, why'd he even want to discuss the job in such a place?"
Uttered the man whilst staring at the entrance. Though hesitant, he carries on and approached the guards near the entrance and asks,
"Am I allowed to come in?"
The guard replied,
"Certainly, sir, err... As long as you can pay for the food, ale, or rooms, you're very welcome. You don't look like you're a nobleman though."
The man observes the inside of Mayon Brahns from the entrance, then he replies to the guard,
"You don't look like one either."
The guard smirks, and says,
"Sir, please don't make a scene, you'll regret it if you do so. If you have business with one of the guests, then by all means, welcome."
The man stares the guard in the eye then continues to enter and as he passes through the entrance, he removes his hood and observes.
He approached a waitress walking near him and asks,
"Do you know of the name Ralph Deznear?"
The waitress replies with a sweet voice,
"Oh hi, good sir, welcome to the Mayon Brahns. Is it Sir Deznear you seek? I think he sat near the eastern corner of the upper floor. Is there anything else good sir?"
The man looks the woman in the eyes for a few seconds and then replies,
"Nothing more, thank you."
